If you were going to redo your kitchen which would you put in? Poll

Trying to establish a final layout for our kitchen but i am stuck as to what i want. Which do you think is more important?

It depends on how much garbage you accumulate. We have a big garbage can and I feel like we have to dump it often. I wouldn't want a small can and have to ake 24353532 trips outside.

I don't have a lot of room in my kitchen. I saved a ton of space by purchasing a nice basket from BBB and putting all my spices in there. I keep the basket on top of the fridge.

If you got a free standing garbage can, do you have a decent spot for it? If so, I'd go with the spice rack.

We generate a ton of garbage and I know if we had it in a cabinet, I'd be emptying it 2x a day.

i would go for the spice rack... and an under sink slide out garbage..



thats the exact one we have.. it has 2 cans so its good for recycling too..

I HATE the idea of my garbage being in a cabinet. stinks and drips and such in the cabinet? yuck.

i have my garbage in the cabinet and i HATE it. its small and i have to take it out sometimes 2x a day and there are only 2 of us! im thinking about just using it for recycling and getting a free standing can as well.

I never liked garbage in a cabinet I would rather a nice simple human (or simialrily sleek) garbage out and a spice rack in cabinet

I have a little spice cabinet, so I would go with the garbage.

Consumers told us we didn't have enough room for a slide out garbage, but we found a simple human version at BBB that fit under our sink perfectly. It's only one bin and it's smaller than their version, but I love it. We didn't have any good space for a stand alone garbage.

thanks for the info. guys. I am still torn, I don't want to have to empty a pail 2x a day but I don't have a space to have it free standing either. If I do just the pail it will be pretty big because it will be an entire cabinet. AH! I hate making decisions!

We have both, and if i had to do it all again and just choose one i would get the garbage. Ours is a 13 gallon can so we only have to empty it once every 1 to 2 days. If anything smelly goes in it it gets taken out immediately. Maybe i would feel differently if we had a space for a free-standing garbage can, but that wasn't an option with our layout.

We redid our kitchen a couple years ago. Our layout did not allow for a freestanding can so we put it in a cabinet - love it that way. We had a top put on the cabinet (between the cabinet and the drawer above it) so no garbage or smells would rise up to the drawer. We empty every couple days. Makes the kitchen look less cluttered. For the spices, we have two tall pull out racks (one on each side of the stove) that are only a few inches wide - fit lots of spices in those.

If you have room for a garbage pail go with the spice rack. It's very convenient.

I don't see the need for a pull out spice rack. I have my spices in a cabinet next to my stove and everything is easy to access. A must for me was a garbage below my kitchen sink in my cabinet. I think it looks much neater and cleaner without a freestanding pail. I have no issues with smells or drips. But then again I'm OCD with cleaning.

I don't care so much about the spices, but having a cabinent for sheets & boards would make my life so much easier. I hate when they are stacked on top of each other.

I would do that & get small garbage pail, but I like to throw my garbage out frequently anyway, so it doesn't smell.
