Baby Brody will be coming a little earlier. The Doctor and hospital had September 11th available.

I said No Thanks, and asked for another day. It is still such a sad day for sooo many people. Would you want that day??

It is one thing if nature planned a baby to come on that date, but for a scheduled birth, I wasn't comfortable.

Brody James William M***** will be here at 7:30 a.m. on September 12th....

My husbands bday is Sept. 11, so for me, it would not be a sad day.

DS was born 9/12 (I went into labor on 9/11) and I would have been content to have him born on 9/11. After being in Manhattan on that horrible day I think it would have been a blessing to have something joyful to remember on that date. But that's me, you have to go with what you feel comfortable with.

I agree that you have to do what you're comfortable with. But 9/12 is my birthday, so I think its a fine day!

My mom's bday is Sept. 11 but I still don't think I'd choose it, either. If it just so happened that way, then so be it, but as for a choice, I think I'd avoid it.

No we wouldn't take that day. We lost a close friend at the towers. We wouldn't be upset if a natural birth happened but wouldn't purposely schedule it that day.

I agree - my DH is FDNY and lost 7 people from his house that day - every year it is still so painful. While I'm sure one day it won't be I wouldn't want to schedule something on that day if I could help it.

on a positive note, one of the survivors scheduled his wedding for sept 7 of 2002 to "celebrate" those that were lost. It was the most beautiful wedding I've ever been to, so no matter what happens, your child's birth will be beautiful!

DS was born on 9/10 but I felt the same way, it would have been a blessing. There were no planned inductions or sections on 9/11 at my hospital. There ended up being a crazy baby boom with something along the lines of 11 or 12 babies born that day anyway Chat Icon

I don't think I would schedule that day either. I have a nephew who was born on that day in 2003 though.

I would probably ask for another day as well!

I just dont want everyone to think "Ohhhh 9/11" when I say when DS was born.

At first I thought I would be OK but then it's such a sad day so I probably would pick another day.

DH would not want that day. He saw it happen from his office windows so not a good memory.

Re: If you were having a scheduled C-section and the Doctor offerred September 11th, would you want that date?

I can understand this.

My friend was due around Sept 11 last year. She was hoping the baby was not born on this day. Turns out the baby was. I could understand what she felt.

We lost someone very close on 9=11 so for me I would pass. But part of me tries to see it in another light, that with death also comes new life. Yet I would not want my child to have to symbolize that! So I still would pass. It's a personal choice but it's totally understandable.

If I could avoid that day and had a choice then I would not take it.

But if the baby has other plans and decided to come that day - I wouldn't think twice about it. I'd accept is as meant to be.

If I went into labor naturally, I'd be fine with that date and would think of it as a way to have something positive on that day.

However I don't think I'd schedule anything for that day. As much as I know it would be fine, it just gives me a funny feeling. Too many memories fro mthta day.
