If you were induced, how long were you in labor before you delivered?

DS2 was induced and I think it took about 9 hours before I started pushing.

I plan to get induced at 39 weeks with this baby if she does not come before then.

Re: If you were induced, how long were you in labor before you delivered?

For my fisrt I went on 12/28 (was due the day before) and didn't have her till 1/1 in the afternoon.

It took 2 rounds of inductions before I started dilating (was only be induced because I was leaking amniotic fluids)

For my second I was over a week late and it was only one round of inductions. For some reason I can't remember when I went in but I feel like it was less than 12 hours from the time I was induced till he was born. For him though I could not get him out so after trying to push him out for at least an hour if not more I ended up with a c section.

3:00 am - Cervadil in.
9:00 am - Cervadil out, water broken, and Pitocin started
DS was born at 4:00 pm

So 13 hours altogether, 6 hours of actual active contractions/labor and 1 hour of pushing.

DC3 was induced at 40w1d. I got the lowest dose of Pitocin around 10 am, and she broke my water at the same time. 2 hours later I felt like I needed to push and after a few pushes, he arrived. Minus an epidural that didn't work at all, it was pretty smooth.

Were you already pretty dilated?

At my last check up, I was already 60% effaced and 4cm dilated so I expect I will have progressed more by next week.

Hailey 12 hours total from start of induction until she was born.

Labor itself was 6 hours.

Jillian was 6 hours from start of induction until she was born.

Labor itself was 5 hours. Contractions started very quickly.

Arrived for induction at 3cm. Induced with just pitocin. Took 22 hours till it was time to push and then 3 hours of pushing before DS made his arrival.

I was induced but at 41 weeks. Took about 12 hours. Why are you getting induced at 39 weeks. I did everything I could not to be inducted.

I was 4 cm at my check up the week before my induction. I was 3-4 cm for a few weeks prior and having contractions but nothing consistent before I went in. Good luck!

I was induced with my first , I was past 41 weeks & starting from scratch (no dilation) it took about 19 hours start to finish. Only half of that was active labor though... The first 9 hours were slow going but then my water broke & active labor really started.

Personally, I would not get electively induced.

I failed induction after over 28 hours and Pitocin, Cytotec etc. I was over 39 weeks and "favorable". My induced labor was not the same as my natural ones.

I got induced again over a week later. Also had problems "coordinating" the contractions and they just weren't great on high dose Pit (I was given Pit with great results the previous 2 pregnancies).

I was induced with my 2nd - they started cervadil around 1am on Tuesday and I delivered Wednesday afternoon.

I had 2 rounds of cervadil and then started pitocin around 9 am on Wed and delivered early afternoon.

Re: If you were induced, how long were you in labor before you delivered?

I was very lucky- my labor was 6 hours start to finish. I went in at 2 cm dilated and 100% effaced. I was given a foley catheter at 11:00 AM for an hour then when that was removed started a pitocin drip. DD was born at 5:16 PM. I progressed SUPER quickly. I had gotten my epidural when I started having very strong contractions at about 3:00/3:30 and the nurses told me to try and nap since it might be awhile. The second I laid down and got comfortable all these monitors started beeping- apparently I dilated and she dropped so quickly, it dropped her heart rate. They got her heart rate back up, checked me and told me it was time to push! Chat Icon

ETA: I think my water was broken around 12:30?

Re: If you were induced, how long were you in labor before you delivered?

DS I was induced at 39 weeks with just Pitocin and it took 16 hours in total.

DD I was induced at 36 weeks and took Cytotec when I first arrived at the hospital. They expected I would need 3 - 4 doses of that prior to starting Pitocin, but I ended up never needing anything else. It sent me straight into labor within an hour of taking it. A total of 7 hours including pushing.

Re: If you were induced, how long were you in labor before you delivered?

I'm the exception but I'll share my story anyway. I was induced for various medical reasons. Got to the hospital at 6pm on a Tuesday, was given Cervadil at 9. No progress. Given another round at 9am, still no progress. Given yet another round at 9pm on Wednesday. Still no progress. Thursday morning, doc decided its time to just try pitocin and break my water. Water was broken around 10am. Epidural in and pitocin started at noon. No progress (not even a fingertip dilated after allllllll of that) - we decided a c-section was the best option around 5pm on Thursday. Baby was born just after 6pm - a full 48 hours after I was admitted.

I was induced at 40w3d and he was born 18 hours later. I gave birth at Duke University Hospital and they purposely move slowly so there are fewer risks for a C-section. I'm glad I was induced b/c DS was born 9 pounds 1 oz and he didn't need to keep cooking!

For DS 1 I was induced in the morning and he was born at 9pm (I am thinking about 12 hrs by the time they broke my water until the time he came).
