If you were part of the wait staff in a restaurant
Did your establishment "spit in customer's food" for being nasty to the staff? Not necessarily that, but something like that.

I worked in two different restaurants and never once saw anyone do anything to "get back" at a nasty customer.

No, I haven't. I mainly worked at chain restaurants and their standards were high and maintained that way.

I worked in a bagel store and we never did anything like that. People smoked and had sex in the walk-in fridge, but nobody ever spit in anyone's food.

No way. And I worked at 2 very popular restaurants. There's just no way too. Cameras, managers...there's no sneaky way to do something, even if you want to.

Re: If you were part of the wait staff in a restaurant
Worked at a chain-food restaurant for almost 8 years, and it never involved "human" fluid, but other servers and the back-of-house would get back at nasty customers in some other shape/form.

Re: If you were part of the wait staff in a restaurant
Not restaurant business, but I used to work with someone in that worked for a major airline, which is still in business, she was a flight attendant. Sometimes (let's use that term loosely) they would put Visine in a passengers coffee/drink if the customer was "difficult" - particularly on long trans-atlantic flights. Apparently Visine gives you the runs.

Re: If you were part of the wait staff in a restaurant
Whether it actually happens or not, this is part of the reason I make sure I am always nice and respectful to waitstaff.
The other part is that they definitely have one of the hardest jobs out there and don't get paid enough to deal with people's crap.

Never. Not to offend, but to get so angry to want to physically harm/violate someone is kind of an issue...we all have bad days.

Not that I'm justifying the behavior in any way, but when a customer consistently comes in acting like the waitstaff/servers are their personal servants, then no - it's not having a bad day, it's a person that is just that way.

Like?
1) Visine in their food or drink - someone else just stated that on here - gives them the runs.
2) If they returned their pizza claiming they didn't "order that" b/c they did not read the menu, then the pizza usually got wiped on the counter (sometimes on the floor depending on the line cook that day) and put right back in the oven with a fresh layer of cheese and sauce and returned to the guest. It's the same pizza, yet the customer ate it happily thinking it was the "other" pizza they didn't order.

Now this is the stuff I was looking to hear
When my cousin lived in Florida he worked for a sandwich chain while in HS and he said when they were slow they would have food fights with the deli meat and would wash it off and put it back.

Re: If you were part of the wait staff in a restaurant
no. never.
I worked at a Friendly's for 5 years and never di or saw this.
I will say, I drooled (by accident) into a 5 gallon tub of vanilla ice cream. I tried to scoop out where i thought it went, but it was so busy, I didn't want to go through the hassel of going and getting a new one and of course explaining to my manager.

you also just get better service. Dh's order was taken by someone with the same name at our local deli. He waited patiently for them to make it again without being in a huff and now he gets special treatment from them.

Re: If you were part of the wait staff in a restaurant
I waitressed....
I bartended....
I managed...
My family owned a restaurant at one point...
NEVER EVER did we do anything to a nasty customer....
The most I ever did was when I was bartending. Let's say it was a busy bar and said nasty customer wanted a drink. I would usually make them wait a bit longer than the average customer...and their drinks would always be made on the weaker side. But you really had to push my buttons for that to happen.

Re: If you were part of the wait staff in a restaurant
I worked at Pizza Hut and the people who bring their kids in at 10:45pm riiiiight before we closed always ****** me off. But, the one instance we "got back" at a customer was more of an F U than revenge. This guy kept saying the soda was flat or wasn't sweet enough. My manager kept adjusting the levels on the machine to please the guy, but nothing did. Finally my manager said to open a bottle and give it to him, maybe there was something wrong with the machine. I opened a bottle and gave the glass to the guy, who then stated it still "wasn't right". My manager came out with the open bottle and said, we just poured it from here how can it not be right. The guy immediately backed down, "oh oh it's ok it's ok"
