Not restaurant business, but I used to work with someone in that worked for a major airline, which is still in business, she was a flight attendant. Sometimes (let's use that term loosely) they would put Visine in a passengers coffee/drink if the customer was "difficult" - particularly on long trans-atlantic flights. Apparently Visine gives you the runs.
I feel like this might not be the best idea on an airplane

Never saw it. In one rest., I wouldn't be surprised, but the other one had an open kitchen and nobody would get away wtih it.

i never worked in a restaurant but my friend did when we were teens and teenage girls who host/waitress to other teenage girls they don't like = bad news...

Never did it, never saw it. i have seen people drag their feet when a customer is really rude and harassing, but thats about the worst I've seen.

DH worked at a chain restaurant for 4+ years and said no one ever did anything gross or bad other than putting a steak in the microwave instead of the grill to finish cooking it if a customer complained 
On the other hand, I know a bartender who stirred a drink with his junk to get back at a really nasty female customer. He did it more than once, but only to one person (a regular).

Never in a million years did I ever do that. My co workers would never. I have worked at four places and I have never seen that.

I worked for a LI catering hall during my summer off from college. What the cooks did was not pretty and I quit 3 weeks into the gig, it wasn't nice or good. Flies would land on food and they would make me take it out, it would fall on the floor, i had to pick it up and serve it, ish like that, gross, and i couldn't work there anymore. waitresses all cried out back b/c of what was served. i quit and worked at carvel, that place is clean!!!!

I worked in 2 different restaurants and 2 catering halls when I was younger...I never saw anyone do this. Although, I am sure it happens
