If you work in a "large" company, do you say "hi"...
If you work in a company with over 100 people, do you say "hi" to everyone in the hall, even if you don't know them? Yes, they are coworkers, but if you never deal with them, do you still acknowledge them?
I have different levels. If I have no idea who they are, I don't acknowledge them at all. If I recognize them, but really have no communication with them, but I pass them in the hall on a regular basis, I'll give a smile or a nod.
Of course, people that I know, I'll either say hi to, or duck into a nearby office to avoid them completely...

Re: If you work in a "large" company, do you say "hi"...
The bigger question for this is...if you see these people you don't know and smile, nod or say the usual good morning or hi, what if you see them again? How many times do you need to acknowledge one person in the course of a day??

I usually smile and say hello.

I always at least smile at people if we make eye contact.

There was a Dilbert comic strip about this.... I think by the end of the day, he was hiding somewhere to avoid the awkward acknowledgment issue....

I just smile at the ones I don't know, because it;s polite and friendly. Many people don't acknowledge at all, and I think that's cold and not very nice.

I'd say Hi to everyone and then just keep walking. No need for conversation but it's nice to just say Hi and smile.

My company takes up an entire city block - I see no reason to NOT acknowlege people - What is it to smile and say 'good morning' to someone ??
IMO, it's always better to make a favorable impression on people .........You could be talking to the janitor, or you could be talking to a VP -

Re: If you work in a "large" company, do you say "hi"...
i work in a "company" with 200+ employees, and we have two locations. at the annex, where i work, i say hi to everyone i see (mostly there are a few i ignore completely! )
at the "main" location, i don't go there often, but when i do, i smile and say hi to everyone i see there. i try not to discriminate

A co-worker and I judge people on how they treat others in the morning. "Oh so-and-so is nice." "Oh she's a cold-hearted Biotch" All based on whether they smile and/or otherwise acknowledge people in the halls.
You're human, they're human, acknowledge their presence.

I work in a ridiculously large company (more than 2k people in this location alone).
If it's just me and 1 other person passing me in the hallway 99% of the time there is acknowledgement of the other person. If it's me and I pass a group I usually ignore them.

Some people aren't morning people. I know for one, I am not, so I don't know how cheery I am in the morning.

I always say hi to people I pass that I know - even if it's 'casual know'.
at minimum, I will nod or smile. but I don't pretend I don't know someone just to not have to acknowledge them.
