Re: If you work in NYC but delivering in hospital in the suburbs....
I see a Dr in the suburbs. I work from home one day a week and make my appts for that day or I make them later in the day.
I don't think it's possible to have a Dr in NYC and deliver in the suburbs based on hospital affiliations.

Re: If you work in NYC but delivering in hospital in the suburbs....
We moved to Brooklyn (and we both work in NYC) during my first pregnancy and my OB was in Great Neck (affiliated with NSUH). I didn't change doctors and honestly it as a huge PITA getting to appointments. Plus I was pertrified of going into labor and getting stuck in traffic going to Northshore. It all worked out and my water broke at 1:30am so no traffic! For this pregnancy we changed to a doctor and hospital in Brooklyn.
Do you live near your OB and just work in NYC?

Wow Great Neck to Brooklyn is abit of a hike.
I live in NJ and work in the city and will have to either get into work later or leave work earlier for appointments. Was wondering about going to an OB in the city the first 2 trimesters, and changing to one closer to home in the last trimester...

I see a doctor in the suburbs. it's way more conveinent for me. My doctor has evening appointments until 7 plus my job is very understanding about coming in late/ leaving early for all appt's.

I live in burbs and work in NYC, but I see a Dr in NYC and plan to deliver in NYC...
I would just really consider the pros/cons of changing MDs in the 3rd trimester... Your going to get comfortable with a Dr and them with you and you may not want to change in the 3rd trimester to find a new dr that makes you feel comfortable... I dont I just feel the OB Dr is a very personal decision and a major decision that sometimes isnt easy to make...
Does your Dr have late or early morning appointments? weekend appointments?

I live in Melville, work in Brooklyn and my dr is in Manhasset. My dr has late nights on Thursdays so she sees patients until 8pm.

I live in Suffolk and work in Queens. My OB is in Suffolk and I'll be delivering in Suffolk too. I figure I'd rather be closer to home for the delivery and it's the same doc I've been seeing for over a decade. It just makes it tricky scheduling regular appointments during the week.

Re: If you work in NYC but delivering in hospital in the suburbs....
I Work in midtown and my dr is out in Suffolk near good Sam. Most ob's have evening hrs. I would sometimes go for the first appt and then go to work.
Changing drs later in the pregnancy isn't an option most times cause most drs won't take a new patient on late in the pregnancy without extenuating circumstances

I am keeping my docs in LI. They have late hours and my job is flexible if I need to come in late or leave early.

I live in NJ and work downtown.
I am going to an OB near my home and it is also minutes away from the hospital I will be delivering at.
So far it has not been a problem, I get an early appt and am at work by 11 usually and make up my hours either the same day or throughout the week. Besides, if you are having a normal pregnancy, you only see them every 4 weeks until you are 30 weeks.
personally, I would not want to switch in the third trimester after getting comfortable with a doctor...unless of course I wasn't happy at the practice.

Re: If you work in NYC but delivering in hospital in the suburbs....
I also think it's strange to change Drs in the 3rd tri.
My Doc (burbs & I work in NYC) has evening hours 1 day a week. I make sure to book all my appointments early.
