How many hours do you work if you work part time?
How much of a pay cut did you take?
Do you feel like you will ever be able to bounce back to your original career trajectory?

I don't know if I'm committing career suicide but I keep wanting to work less. I already have a flex schedule and work about 30 hours a week. I basically do full time work on a modified schedule. My friends think I have it pretty good because I am still able to spend time with the boys while moving along in my career.

What I truly want is to work about 20 hours a week. DH earns more than enough to support us financially. I work because I want to work, not because we need the money. I just want to work less. I want to tell my boss I want to work 10 hours less and earn 1/3 less but it is not as simple. I would probably just be replaced.

I work about 25 hours per week. I didn't take a pay cut but I only get paid for the hours I work (kept my salary but now make my per hour rate depending the hours I work). I do think I could go back into the office at anytime. I don't WANT to at all. I hate office drama and politics. I love working from home because it gives me the extra money I need. Working FT didn't make sense for me because 50% of my salary would go to daycare.

I went from 5days to 4 days and took a 20% paycut. I had maintained the same client responsibility though. I am always accessible via email on the day I don't work.

I work 24 hours/week - so 3 full time days. I make the hourly rate of what my salary was since some of my time can be billable to clients. It works out to about me making 60% of my salary. It's a great gig for me right now and I'm happy with the arrangement. I work from home exclusively and only go in to the office when needed.

I went down to 20 hours a week, 50% pay. Best set-up ever.. I get the best of both worlds, totally worth the pay cut. I go into the office 2 days a week and work 4 hours at home.

when i left my full time job to stop commuting I found a job nearby that was 18hrs a week, then went to 20.

I took a HUGE paycut.

and now I was laid off and have yet to find anything that has 20 hrs in 3 days a week..everything is 5 days/4 hrs a day. Or pay enough to cover the cost of putting DS in daycare for 3 days.

Eventually I'd like to go back into publishing full time when Im done with kids.

When I got pg with DS I asked to go part time. So I went from 5 days a week 10 hours a day to 3 days a week 10 hours a day. I took a 40% cut in salary.

I have a long commute on top of the 10 hour day so I couldn't imagine not seeing my kids for 13 hours every day... so I am very happy with my decision.

As for "career trajectory" ... eh... I have a great paying job that I like and I am good at. I wouldn't exactly call it a career nor do I loooove doing what I do. So I am not worried about that aspect.

I work in shifts. So if I worked 2 shifts a week instead of 3 I would lose 1/3 of my pay. But I'd also have to pay more into my benefits and get less towards tuition reimbursement. I carry the insurance for the family.

I work about 20 hours... Two 9 hour days at work and 2 hrs or more from home (emails, conf calls, paperwork). I switched companies when I went from f/t to p/t so my salary didn't take a cut... I am paid hourly now (salary before) and make much more per hour, do I make around 75% of my old income but now with three kids I pay half of it to school and daycare. I don't work for the money. I can get out if the house, adult interaction, use my brain, keep gaps off my resume, and make some money doing it... Only 2 days. It's perfect for me. I am really lucky.

I took a very large pay cut. I went from working 5 days to two. However I now work on weekends so that my husband is home with the baby. We obviously miss the extra money but we have learned to budget ourselves and it is working for now.

I am a RN in a leadership position. I took about a 50% pay cut to work part time. (its considered 0.5 time).

Right now I am only working 12 hours a week in the office. I do engineering consulting work. I never took a pay cut since I still make the same amount of money on an hourly basis. If I end up working more hours, I get paid for those hours. I bill hourly to clients.

I've been part time almost 9 years. My hours depend on my kids. When it was just my two older ones, I worked up to 25 hours a week while they were in school. Since I had baby #3, I am home with him most of the time and I work when DH is home (no sitter needed).

Not sure I'd ever go back to a full 40 hours a week, but my part time salary is more than enough to keep us afloat now, so I can't complain.

I work 24 hours a week right now and its completely manageable; I may go to 32 a couple of months. I am still making pretty decent money and for me, its worth it to have the extra time with my baby.

I work 4 days. 27 hours
I get 80% of my base salary.
School schedule, summers off. It's not where I can make the most $ in my profession, but it is the perfect "mom" job with a great retirement!
