My opinion changes on this daily. Some days I am just not into being an attorney and I would rather just be home with my DD so on those days I am a better mom. However there are days where I feel that I am such a great attorney and I suck at being a mom because I wasn't able to spend enough time with DD. I think though at the end of the week it balances itself out.

Im much better at my job, but Ive also been doing it longer. I wasnt as good at it as I am now, when I was only 2.5 years into it.

My job is definitely "easier".

Depends on the day...Very rarely does something come up at work where I truly have no idea what to do, and (this is my first DC) that happens often with DS as everything is new to me! I tend to second guess everything with him, from what he should be eating, to how much he should be sleeping, etc., when at work I am very good at my job, have a doctoral degree in the area, and very rarely second-guess myself!

When DS was in the NICU they had me put on a diaper/feed him/burp him, and then they graded me. I barely passed. In my defense, I think that was the first diaper I ever changed!

I have been doing my job a lot longer. I don't think I am a bad mom, but I have only been a mom for 5 months and I have been at my job for 8 years.

I have only been a mom for 4 months, so before him, if you had asked what i thought I would be, I would have said work, because I didn't have him to think about all day. I used to give 110%, and come in early and stay late, and take extra tasks, etc. Now, he is #1, and everything else comes 2nd...so I leave on time (mostly) and dont take on as much, if it will cut into DS time...kwim?

So, now, i am much better at being a mom, because DS is more important..and I like playing with him all day when I'm off...

I'm not better at one or the other. I'm a constantly evolving person striving to be better in both all the time. I personally feel it's like comparing apples to oranges. I'm the best teacher I can be when I need to be and the best mom I can be. They're too different to say I'm better at one than the other. I'm good at both.

I am 100% better at being a mom...some days I know I am a terrible employee as i work from home and I barely make it through the day with my work stuff.

It depends. I'm very good at my job and have completely turned around my department since I took the job a year and a half ago. We now have the highest salability of loans of all the attorneys that Chase deals with.

BUT being home these past 9 weeks on maternity leave I have really gotten into a groove with being a mom. Not that I wasn't a good mom before but I just didn't have a lot of time with Kaydyn and I worked ALOT of hours last year because of the refi boom.

I still get stressed with a newborn and a 2yo but I feel like I've become a much better mom since I had DD#2. It's going to be heartbreaking to go back to work next week

I never know how to answer the working mom posts because I FEEL like a SAHM.

I have my own business out of my house, I work during naps and after DS goes to bed. Right now I happen to have a huge workload and have been working until 2-3AM, but I still get up 7 or 8 and enjoy every minute with DS. I also really enjoy what I do for work.

For me the thing that suffers is the house, I don't' have time for housekeepng and end up doing the minimum.

I love being a Mom, there are days when I may have to work when DS is up, but an hour here or there of him entertaining himself is probably good for him. My clients are happy with my work and because of that my work load is exploding. I am actually at the point right ow where I have to decide if I can take on any new projects, even though I hate the idea of turning away work.

I think I am pretty happy with both aspects of my life right now.

My job is being responsible for the welfare of other people's children. If I took care of other people's children better than my own, then I'd be one lousy mother.

a mom. My career is no longer the number one priority as it was before DS was born.

This also changes for me daily. I know how important I am at my job, and how a lot of people depend on me. I am excellent at what I do. Somedays I kick butt at work, but then feel miserable for only spending minimal time with DS.
On the days I work from home and weekends I totally am a much better mom. I devote all my time and energy on DS.

On the poll I chose better mom!

I'm good at my job, but I am a really great mom.

I never feel like I am letting stuff slip through the cracks as a mom but I sometimes feel that way at work.

Depends on the day....everyone has bad days, so some days I have a bad day at work and think "god, i stink at this" other days I have a tough time with the kids and think "wow, what am i doing?!"...some days I am lucky and think "i am a pretty good lawyer and mom!"

I mean, i think i'm a great nurse (though, i dont include all of the paperwork in that lol), but i don't really care about that position as much as i do about being a mom. I feel like being a mom just comes naturally to me. I may not always make the right/best decision, but i dont second guess myself, either.
