If your brother loved your kids and wanted to take them somewhere (hypothetically speaking. you do not need to have kids to answer the Q)

but only drove two seater car, would you offer them one of your two cars?

or would you make them ask you for it, knowing they will have to get a car that fits YOUR kids and him and his wife if you didn't?

what's your opinion? we'd like to know?

NO CAR SEATS.
LOTS OF TRUST.

for those confused...it has nothing to do with trusting the driving or the care of the kids.

it's purely what YOU would do for someone that offered to take YOUR kids off of YOUR hands for a nice afternoon.

Re: If your brother loved your kids and wanted to take them somewhere

do these kids need car seats? i ask because i take my sisters kids all the time but only if the little one who needs a car seat isnt with us. if he is, then she offers me her car because we obviously need the car seat and its too much of a hassle to move it back and forth.

Of course. I would never expect my brother & SIL to rent a car and car seats if they wanted to take my kids off my hands. I'd be kissing your feet for giving me a break.

Even if they were older and didn't need the seats but you only had a 2 seater I'd lend you the car.

I would definitely offer my brother my car, but I trust my brother.

Depends if I trusted my brother to drive my car and if me and my husband needed our cars that day.

Well, if we are talking aout MY brother specifically here... doesn't matter what vehicle, it could be a 747, a tank, the Queen Mary... he's never transporting my kids anywhere.

My brotherChat Icon I don't know if I'd let him push the stroller.

If I trusted him, I'd let him use my car. It's also important to know the car seats are properly installed. I wouldn't want to take them out and reinstall them... it's a PITA and might not be done correctly.

I would offer my truck to them. In my situatio though, my brother has a "family" car since he has a baby. I trust them though & would not mind trading cars for the day.

Right there with ya on that one.

If I were living in a dreamworld, with a loving, responsible, kind, giving brother, who wanted to be involved in my kids lives, of course I'd offer my car.

I would have asked my brother when he asked if he could take my kids somewhere that required a car how he planned on getting them there ... and go from there.

hypothetically speaking...maybe...I don't have kids yet and when I do I would have to see how much my brother has matured...he is 21 going on 12Chat Icon

but if he was responsible, yes I would lend him one of my cars

Has teh offer been put out there yet?You could offer by saying- "Oh. wee'd be glad to take them, but we would need your car of course".

I don't have kids and I often watch my neice and my sister and I always just switch cars.
Yes, she could take the car seat out but it is just easier with all of the crap that goes along.

I would have to say yes without even thinking about it. If I trusted him enough to leave my kids with him, I should be able to trust him with my car which is a lot less valuable then my children!

Re: If your brother loved your kids and wanted to take them somewhere (hypothetically speaking. you do not need to have kids to answer the Q)

Hypothetically, I think if I trusted my brother enough to actually drive the kids around in general, I would trust him with my car. Therefore, I would just offer to switch cars for the day, since it would probably be the easiest solution for everyone.

In reality, I trust both of my brothers and since they both have children of their own, I wouldn't worry about my kids or my car in their care.

Re: If your brother loved your kids and wanted to take them somewhere (hypothetically speaking. you do not need to have kids to answer the Q)

I'm confused. Is the issue that you wouldnt trust him with your car because you are afraid he would do damage to the car?

I would think that the issue would be more if you trust him driving your children somewhere. In that case, if i trusted someone to drive my children somewhere, I would certainly trust them to drive my car..... And since my car would have properly installed safety seats, I would actually PREFER they take my car.

I don't think I am understanding the question correctly though. Who cares about the car? I would only care about the safety of my children!

I think that if I trusted my brother enough to watch my kids I think I would trust him with my car. I would be so greatful just for the offer!

If I trusted my brother enoguht to take my hypothetical children anywhere & I trusted him enough to drive them, then I would probably offer my hypothetical car, if I wasn't going to be needing it ( or if I could drive his for the day)

Like Wendy said though, as soon as he said, "I want to take your kids to the XYZ" I'd probably said "how is that going to work, you drive a whatever".

I would give him my car to drive so they can fit everyone safely. No questions asked, I would offer.

for those confused...it has nothing to do with trusting the driving or the care of the kids.

it's purely what YOU would do for someone that offered to take YOUR kids off of YOUR hands for a nice afternoon.

Speaking about MY two brothers, of course I'd offer them my car. I'd never make him rent or borrow someone else's car and I sure wouldn't let him transport my kids on his lap.

Of course, this is all hypothetical... my brothers are the ones who are all responsible with kids. Chat Icon
