Re: if your certified k-6..

i depends on the school. If it is a Middle school like grades 5-8 then yes you could teach a 5th or 6th grade class. I worked in a school like that. I also believe (but dont hold me to it) that you can work 1 year out of your certification. I also beleive there are classes you can take to get a certificate so you can be k-12

Re: if your certified k-6..

yes... you can teach 5th grade in a middle school or 6th grade in a middle school. in fact, the middle school in my district has a lot of K-6 teachers because although the school is grades 6-8, they really run the 6th grade year like an elementary class. they have a homeroom teacher that teaches the core classes and they only switch for science, foreign language and specials. A lot of the 6th grade teachers are certified K-6.

yes, i believe you can teach one year out of your certification area. ALthough the dsitrct might want you to have some experience or at least coursework in the subject area... who knows! good luck!

probably not.. but like i said you may be able to do it for 1 year - because ive heard you can teach one year out of your certification.

just be aware though that if you do teach 5 or 6th in a MS that you will most likly have to have some background or have to take classes in the subject area since most, like the school i worked in, the students switched classes just like 7th and 8th graders
