If your child has food allergies...
Are they allergic to more than 1 thing? If so, would you mind sharing what the allergies are to?
DS is allergic to both egg & dairy, but has had 2 new reactions in the past week. I haven't ID'd what the new allergy is yet, but suspect it's either hummus or strawberries - both of which he's had dozens of times before
He's just about 18 months old & I still haven't given him shellfish or any form of nuts yet. I'm way too nervous (& our ped told us to hold off on nuts until he's 2 y/o).

Re: If your child has food allergies...
DS is allergic to dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs (very mild), and sesame. He had PB a few times before ever having a reaction and in fact at 18 months he tested negative for peanut allergy, which is why I let him have it in the first place. He also had sesame many times before showing any kind of reaction. If your DS had a reaction to hummus it is likely that it is an allergy to sesame. I now give DS trader joes original hummus which is tahini free. My DS has never had shellfish even though he's tested negative for shellfish allergy. I'm afraid to let him try because my DH is allergic to shellfish.
What kind of reaction did your DS have? My allergist recommends if it's just a mild reaction to eliminate the suspected foods for a week or two and then reintroduce one at a time to determine what it may be.

Re: If your child has food allergies...
DS was allergy tested when he was 15 months old after a reaction to peanut butter. Test is based on Levels 1-6. 6 is most severe.
Level 1: Pet dander Level 2: soybean, egg yolk Level 4: egg white, peanut
He tested negative with all other peanuts but allergist told us to avoid any nut until further notice. And because he is Level 4 we have to carry an epi pen.
DS has never actually had an egg reaction. Allergist told us we can give him anything containing cooked or baked with egg (cakes, cookies) but don't let him eat straight eggs.
The allergist also told us most children with egg allergies will grow out of it. Hopefully his egg allergy is gone.
We actually just redid the allergy panel last week. We have an appointment next week to go over the results.
Have you considered having DC tested?
