If your child was on Elecare/Neocate...
did they outgrow their milk allergy?
does having to be on this formula mean that their allergy is stronger?

DD was sensitive to all the other formulas, we tried them all. Elecare was the only thing that worked for her. At 1yo the Dr. said there was only 1 way to find out if she still had the allergy and that was to give her milk.
She did great and has outgrown the allergy.
ETA: If your insurance won’t cover it I have a ton left over I'm looking to sell.

Yes Mine outgrew it and was totally on milk around 14 months old.
We went through 2 formulas before Neocate and i saw a response within 24 hours of her being on it.
My oldest has mild to moderate food allergies, so we are going to get her tested too..

Thanks, my son has been on it for about 5 months, and our insurance does cover it. I was just wondering if being on it meant that their allergy was more severe.
I really, really hope that he outgrows it

Re: If your child was on Elecare/Neocate...
Just transitioned off of Elecare at 13 months successfully....It may not be a milk allergy but rather just an immature digestive system that prevents your child from processing regular milk based formulas. Or sometimes silent reflux ca ncause igestive problems which mimic milk allergies. Even if it is a milk allergy, they usually outgrow these.
I also have some left over...Would not feel right about selling it as insurance covered it for us. I'd like to donate to a needy person/organization if anyone knows of one???
