I voted "yes" for the Yankee gift swap. I think it would be a great way to interact and get to know other people.
But I don't think that just having gc's would be good.
No, it would not be only GC. We would set up rules IF we do it. I would like it to be ONLY gifts.

In case you want to consider it:
The Right Family Story
The holidays were almost here and Mother Right was finishing the baking. Father Right, Sue Right, and Billy Right returned from their last-minute holiday errands. "There's not much left to be done," said Father Right as he came into the kitchen.
"Did you leave the basket of food at the shelter?" asked Mother Right. "I left it right where you told me to," said Father Right. "I'm glad my shopping is done," said Billy right. "I don't have any money left."
The hall telephone rang, and Susan Right left to answer it. She rushed right back and told the family, "Aunt Tillie Right left a package for us right on Grandma Right's front porch. I'll go over there right now and get it," she said as she left in a rush. Father Right left the kitchen and brought in the packages.
By the time Susan Right returned, Mother Right, Father Right, and Billy Right had begun decorating the house. The entire Right family sang festive songs as they finished decorating. Then they left all the presents arranged in a neat pile and went to bed, hoping they had selected the right gifts for their family.
Now I hope you have the right present for yourself, because that's all that's left of our story...except to wish you Happy Holidays... Isn't that right??

Very cute. We will have to save that for next year. It doesn't look like the yankee swap will happen. Too many people said no, and I can't force them to do something they don't want to. 
We'll still have fun.

I have to be honest and I hope I don't come across as a Scrooge. Although it sounds like a cute idea. Times are tough this year for so many people and even though it's one gift some may not be able to do it. I think just the company of so many moms will be fun enough

My office used to do this but people got upset when someone took the good gift from them...so we changed it:
Everyone gets in a circle holding thier gift. A story is read and every time you hear the word left you pass the gift to the left and when you hear right you pass it to the right. In the end everyone has a different gift. If we go with the gift card idea that might be a fun way to do it.
Can we sing KUMBAYA as well  Oh wait no "lefts" in that song

Scrooge!! J/K!!!! That is why I didn't want to force anyone to do it and made a post so everyone can vote. Like I said, we have plenty of time to plan for next years event.
