It's us today. 104 fever
PED told me it will last about 3-4 days. We are alternating motrin and tylenol per PED.

Re: If your dc had/has the high fever virus...?
Not sure if we had this, but we had some crazy thing going on in our house. First DS had a very high fever for 4 days. The highest reaching 104.6...he also had a very red throat wiht pus, but tested negative for strep. A few days later DD got it (not sure about the throat because I didnt take her to the doc). She was running a very high temp too. She also reached 104.6. I just used teh motrin tylenol thing. DD's fever lasted a little longer than DS's. it was horrible i felt so bad for them
Now they have coughs and DS has a really runny nose. I have no idea what kinda virus this is.

Re: If your dc had/has the high fever virus...?
My younger one (DD) got it first on Sunday and then on Tuesday my older one (DS) got sent home from daycare with it. The highest temp both kids had was around 103.4 and 103.7. I took them both to the peds on Thursday- DS's illness turned into pneumonia and DD's was RSV/bronchiolitis
Before being put on antibiotics, DD only got Motrin and Tylenol. DS only had tylenol (he throws up whenever he takes Motrin).
I'm just waiting to see how long it takes before I catch it
I hope your LO gets better and the other one doesn't get it!

Re: If your dc had/has the high fever virus...?
DS had a fever the Saturday after Thanksgiving. He had been getting sniffly and then that day his fever went up to 104+. We just gave him Tylenol a couple of times and by Sunday morning he was down to around 99-100 and by that night it was gone.
He didn't have any more fever but we took him to the Dr. on Monday b/c of green boogies and a cough and they gave him some amoxicillian. He seemed totally over it by a few days later.

Re: If your dc had/has the high fever virus...?
william had it a little over a month ago. he was on tylenol and motrin. He winded up having a febrile seizure and his temp was 104 with the motrin already in his system about 2 hrs.
the virus lasted about a week to 10 days - the fever was the highest the first few days but he had a low grade temp the rest of the time.
hope ur little one feels better
eta: his throat was red with white spots but tested negative twice for strep. the dr said the type of white looking spots on his throat were typical with a viral infection

DD got it around 5 or 6 days after DS got it. I was so upset too because we almost didnt make it to her christmas party but she finally broke her fever on the 5th day.
Ill pray for your older ds not to get it. This virus is nuts
ETA: I noticed both times with this virus that once the fever only reaches 101 usually the next day the fever breaks.

Re: If your dc had/has the high fever virus...?
DD is now on Day 8 of fever. The highest it has been is 102.6° and she did test positive for strep last Saturday, but negative for flu on Thursday. Last night she woke up soaking wet and we changed her pjs - I was so hoping it meant the fever finally broke, but no such luck as right now she is running 101.9°.
ETA: She was given antibiotics for the strep, and all I've been using is tylenol b/c it is having immediate effect.

Re: If your dc had/has the high fever virus...?
Yup.
Day 1 up to 103.1
Day 2, 3 & 4 up to 105.9 two times each day
Day 5 & 6 as high as 103.5 & as low as 99.1
Day 7 mostly hovered around 99.1 but up to 103 around dinner time
Day 8 today....he is still lounging in bed with DH sono temp taken yet.
Alternating tylenol & motrin. 1st few days we did the piggybacking thing with them. In the 1st few night we woke him to give him doses of it. The last 2 nights we did not wake him.
He is PLENTY hydrated thank goodness but has eaten minimal food since last Saturday.
No other symptoms at all. Just veyr lethargic when the fever goes over 101.
