If your DC misses an afternoon nap, do you let them nap later?

Or move up bedtime?

My 8 month old just wouldn't go down for her 2:00 nap today. I had company-my mom and my aunt from out of town-so I think that was why. She thought she was missing something. She finally went to sleep when they left around 5. She's still sleeping (5:45). I know this means bedtime will be a little later (she normally goes to sleep at 7:30) but I couldn't imagine making her stay up until then. She would've been a monster. She was already so cranky and tired. And I didn't want to put her to bed super early because then she'll be up at 4 am!

Just curious what others do in this situation?

i dont have DD on a nap scheduele i let her sleep when ever she falls asleep druing the week she sometimes will only sleep for like a half hour at daycare so she will fall asleep on the way home which is aroung 4:30 4:45 and i will let her sleep till she wakes up or i wake her up for her 630 bottle and dinner.

She never really gives me a hard time going to bed at her normal bedtime which is between 7:30 and 8:30

i usually move up bedtime. From my experience, they dont wake up any earlier in the morning if this happens. They would sleep enough hours at night to make up the sleep they lost from their nap, so they get the same total number of hours of sleep whether they napped or not. But there have also been times when I have let my DD take a nap in the evening and then the bedtime was pushed back... so i just say go with whatever you feel your LO needs, as you know best.

Depends on the day. Sometimes they will take a later nap but they usually still go to bed around the same time. (their pm nap is their shorter nap).
Sometimes I will skip the nap and put them to bed earlier. Going to bed early doesn't usually affect their wake up time.

I usually skip the nap and hold her off until bedtime sometimes a few miNs early. Dd is on such a schedule it would mess us all up. She would never go down early for her and I am not sure if she would fall asleep if she misses her nap. If we were in the car she would fall asleep but she gives me a hard time about going to sleep all the time

Dd is older, 18 months (almost). But if she misses her afternoon nap and is a super beast, we move bedtime up. Only by half hour or so, but we try not to let her nap past 5 or so. It doesn't always work though.
