I would hope if they felt the need to come visit him, they would only visit at the hospital & go home.

DH had a colonoscopy(sp) 2 years ago and my MIL cmae to th hospital and waited with me, she called after each DR appt.

I had surgery 2 weeks ago, my mom was with me and my parents have been very involved, dH parents have called once. Which is okay.
If it was my DH who had the surgery I really dont know how involved his parents would be because they are barely involved with his everyday life, so unless it was major surgery I think they would not be overly involved.

what do you mean by "involved"?
haing tehm with oyu all day or calling them many time through out teh day... having them come over the house afterwards... stuff like that
My MIL wanted to be there when DH had deviated septum surgery. I was ok w/ that.

I would have no problem with my IL's being there is my DJ had to have surgery. Don't sweat the small stuff.

My ILs would both be at the hospital the entire time, follow us home, then babysit him while he slept.
And I would be irritated by that.
Me too. Also, I know that it's not what he would want. He'd maybe ask for a ride home from the hospital & then they'd never leave.
MY DH had to go to the ER las summer, in the middle of the night ( around 2am) and we were home around 6am, and got up around 10am to get his perscriptions filled & then called his family & his mother was annoyed that I didn'' call her when we first went to the ER. I said it wasn't neccessary, it wasn't life threatening & there wasn't anything anyoen could do. She said should could have kept me company.
It was 2 in the freaking morning & my husband was was in extreme pain. The last thing on my mind was chatting with his parents.
