It did the first couple of times we stayed there - but I am fine now.

But then, I guess it matters on who you are staying with

Re: If your DH's family lives far away, do you sleep in their house?

we sleep at both our parents houses a lot-- because we have either lived in the city, or now we are in Hoboken-- and when we were in the city, we didn;t have a car.

I prefer to stay at my mom's vs his parents house-- but because we only usually stay for convenience, it's not like we all gather for breakfast-- at his parents anyway-- he has the only parents I know that sleep later than we do. I swear his mom gets up at like 11!

yes, we stay there. No, it's not uncomfortable. We have our own bedroom and bathroom, plus they give us a lot of privacy.

They only live half an hour away, and we stay there on occasion. Not uncomfortable at all, since I did it the entire time we were dating.

Re: If your DH's family lives far away, do you sleep in their house?

It's my family that lives far away, and the first time we ever went down to vist (we were together 6 months), they insisted we share their guest room. I was in shock (my mother being more Catholic than the pope), and DH didn't know what to do with himself. Is it the sleeping together that makes you uncomfortable (I don't think it should, since you're married, but that's JMO) or the getting up and being around them in the a.m? I can totally understand that. Kind of like you're a guest, but not, because you're family and don't know what to do with yourself?

Does this make sense to you?

We stay at his parents when we go to visit and when we go to visit my parents, we stay at their house.

Why would it make us feel uncomfortable??

Re: If your DH's family lives far away, do you sleep in their house?

DHs family lives 10 minutes away, so we dont stay over there. But when were engaged and dating I lived with his family for a few months, so I felt uncomfortable at first, but I got over it. We lived there for 3 weeks in the beginning of our marriage. That was annoying b/c of my MIL, but that was all.

Re: If your DH's family lives far away, do you sleep in their house?

They only live about an hour away but Christmas Eve we are sleeping there because the next morning we have to get up early to drive to my parents house and it's closer to my inlaws. They have a bedroom for us there so we don't feel uncomfortable. I've actually slept there alone on a few occasions when I have gone to visit without DH but didn't feel like driving back. Plus, MIL makes breakfast so what more could I ask for Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yes we sleep there and it's not the most comfortable feeling. Now they don't have room for us anymore and only one bathroom so that won't be happening..

I actually don't feel that uncomfortable sleeping over his mom's house. she's got a huge condo and we have the entire 2nd floor to ourselves, including a king sized bed and our own bathroom.

One SIL lives in MA and we stay at her house.

The other lives in WI. We have no desire to ever go there, especially how I hear she keeps houseChat Icon It's a health hazard, so no we will never be staying there.

IL's live two miles away.

My dh's family is in FL and we have not been there since 2002. I don't plan to go there anytime soon.
The last time we stayed in a hotel but we have stayed at his mother's house and I hated it.

We have stayed at my parents house in Montauk a million times, it is great because the whole lower level is ours. It will be great when we have the baby and we even bring our dog (yes, we are those houseguests)

MIL lives in Florida and we have stayed there once, it was fine. She had a futon in a separate room. SIL and BIL were down there too, but since we had made our plans first they got stuck on the air mattressChat Icon

We've also stayed at SMIL's in a blizzard even though she only lives 10 minutes away, but it was fine, we slept on the floor.

I would love to stay in hotels when we visit people, but it just ain't happening right now.

DH family is in Pittsburgh so we stay there a lot and I can honestly say I feel completely comfortable there.
