If your fussy/colicy baby was only able to be calmed by the swing.....
how long would you keep them in there? did you feel guilt for keeping them in there so long? is there any risk to her development keeping them in there a long time?
DD has colic, depending on the day it ranges from bad but manageable to INSANELY bad (its literally nearly impossible to soothe her). The first few weeks she hated the swing, but in the last few its been a godsend in calming her down. It works when nothing else does. Some days her time in the swing is the only time she will quiet down. My problem is that I am so torn about the swing. I am feeling intensely guilty about parking her in it and the fact that IT can calm her down when I can't. I worry about keeping her in there TOO long. But then when she is going nuts I also know it isn't good for her to be so agitated. I'm so confused, what experience did you all have?
Thanks in advance

Many moms find the swing to be a godsend. My DD napped in there for hours when she was a newborn. Don't feel guilty. The first three months are rough and I say do whatever works.

My first daughter was collicky - the swing was our only relief. She spent countless COUNTLESS hours in there, and for a good 3 months, she slept in the swing during the night. We talked to our pediatrician about it and he said whatever worked to calm her down, to do it, and that staying in the swing that long wouldn't harm her.

My DS slept in the swing until he was 5.5 months old. He probably spent 15 hours of the day in there, if not more. He is doing perfectly fine!
