if your house is half brick.....
what do you have on the exterior of your 2nd floor? siding, stucco? something else?
if you have siding what color? and what color roof shingles do you have?
We have a red roof that I'm not a fan of, white siding and red brick. when we do our 2nd floor over (which better be this spring....or I'm moving! ) we'll be doing a new roof and siding. DH thinks we should stick with white, but I think I'd rather beige or a warmer color, he thinks beige doesn't go with brick.....I think he's nuts and want to prove him wrong!
here's a pic of the front of our house as it is now (we're doing a dormer extension, so picture a full 2nd floor):

Re: if your house is half brick.....
we have white siding, old stuff! If I were to redo the house, I want to do all new brick , a nice light color, I'm sure that is pricey tho
the roof is a dark grey

Re: if your house is half brick.....
thanks! yea definitely not doing brick on the 2nd floor, can't afford it. I LOVE the shaker style for siding, but I'm sure it's a little pricey. maybe we'll do that just in the front and regular siding on the back & sides.
originally I thought we'd do a deep brown type of roof shingle (partially b/c we have a big brown garage door lol) but now I'm thinking black.....

Re: if your house is half brick.....
We are doing a darker beige. I also love the house across from me (next to your MIL) they have new siding in a beige color over their brick. We have to do all siding over . . . . I am new to all the terms but I THINK DH wants the shaker siding JUST in the front!
Did you start any of this yet? We didn't LOL everyone is dragging their feet every step of the way.

Re: if your house is half brick.....
Mine is only a 1 story and we bought the house this color but I like it. I think I would have ordered black shutters rather than green though.

I love the shaker siding too! are you talking about Vinny & Lynn or the corner house? I guess I haven't been paying attention to either house if they recently did their siding lol
We had the architect redo the drawing around September, he filed I think in early November (he's been slow) and then all of a sudden said we could legally include something we wanted and redid the drawings AGAIN about 2-3 weeks ago. he's going to resubmit that to the DOB and hopefully we have our permits by March/April so we can start!! I can't believe we've already been in this house for FIVE years!!
we know who we're using for the framing of the 2nd floor and the roofer. We just need a siding company and maybe if we decide to outsource installing the wood floors (since Mike hated doing them!). We have to order our windows too but I want to wait until the permits are approved so we have all the right sizes. I really can't wait until this is done!! where are you guys in the process?

Re: if your house is half brick.....
The front of my house is brick - we have tan vinyl (certainteed's 'natural clay') on the other 3 sides. We're stuck with a brown roof so we stayed with warm neutral colors.

Re: if your house is half brick.....
We have a split which is mostly brick. the top part and back is siding (aluminum, white) which we need to replace when we can afford it. Our roof is a tan color.

Re: if your house is half brick.....
the bottom half of our house is a deep red brick, the top half is a tan/beige siding. We have maroon shutters and a warm/dark brown roof. Everything is in warm tones and i think it goes nicely together.

Vinnie and Lynn's house - they recently did the siding over LOL
We approved the plans and are now pricing out contractors. Our architect swears that it will take around a month to get the permits. I don't believe him but he hasn't submitted anything yet, I want to scream whenever I think about it!
I think we are going with PAIGE, have you heard anything about them?

actually no I haven't, are they local? I'll ask Mike about them too.....our architect told us 6-8 weeks for permits, but we're already past that (probably since he's redoing the drawings).
