If your ILs live OOS how much do you try to involve them
Most of my ILs live out of state.
I quickly realized that when it comes to my SILs and my BIL there is no point in sending pictures and such, there have been too many nieces and nephews and they don't care nor do they even acknowledge their birthdays.
As for my ILs, I have set up a website for them. I have DD draw pictures and such for them and mail them to them. I try and upload videos and what not. I NEVER hear a response not even a thank you. My husband says don't do it there. But I want her grandparents at least to see what she is up to or can do.
But I have to be honest I wonder why I bother when they can't even spell her name right. It's not that hard.
So my question is do try to keep your ILs that live OOS involved? Do you leave it up to your husbands or do you just not do anything?

My Dad lives OOS. We do video phone!!! That was his gift for Christmas a video camera for his computer. We do it through Skype. IT IS AWESOME! MY MIL is on LI, SIL is in Hawaii and the video phone is AMAZING! It is also cheap! $45 for a camera, then if you have high speed internet, you are all set.

DH and I have an agreement. I handle updating my parents, he updates his. I have no idea how often he sends pics or anything. I know he talks to them at least once over the weekend and puts the phone on speaker so that they can talk to the kids.

Re: If your ILs live OOS how much do you try to involve them
I have a blog I update fairly regularly for both sets of g-parents. My ILs are great about commenting about it, my mother rarely mentions it( but I know she looks at it), and my dad doesn't know how to use a computer . Dh will put Maddie on the phone when ILs call.

Re: If your ILs live OOS how much do you try to involve them
My IL's live OOS and DH speaks to them daily. If there is something new going on, he will tell them about it. I am responsible for sending pictures, since DH is not very computer literate. I send them periodically. My FIL uses SKYPE, so I was thinking of getting a camera for our computer so the IL's can see the kids more. They have only seen DD in person 2 or 3 times.

Do they use the internet much? I know my ILs do not, so they just won't think to go and look at anything like this. Just a thought.
Maybe you are better off sending them drawings and such in the mail?

Re: If your ILs live OOS how much do you try to involve them
I just reread my post and I don't want my ILs to sound heartless, their not. My daughter is grandbaby #11 and this one will be #12, there is also on great grandchild. Our nieces and nephews range from 23 to my daughter being 3. The great grandbaby is 2. Before my daughter the next youngest is 10. My SILs are at the point where they are mostly done mothering their children according to them. So it's not that they don't care they are just passed this.
I guess I feel let down but she is the only grandchild for my Mom so she is a big deal to her and she is the first baby on my moms side in many years.

Both our parents live OOS. We also have a website where I upload videos and pics and write little blog notes on what DD is doing.
My IL's comment on it all the time. My parents very seldomly do. It bums me out that they don't and I have made comments to them about it, but I will still do it regardless.

My IL's live in Minnesota. I send them e-mails updating them on what DD is doing and pictures.

This is what we do too and it works for me!But my ILs sound a lot like Jamie's in that SIL has 3 kids 10-14 and they are not very into the baby/toddler stage.
