Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
My mom has been here twice since Lily was born 4 months ago and she's coming again this weekend. So far it's been every other month.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
IL's live in Florida...they have seen DD in person 1x for Thanksgiving.
My parents live on LI (I'm in Jersey), and we see my parents at least 1x a month...sometimes more.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
My ILs live in FL but have an apt up here. They come up A LOT. They just left 3 weeks ago after being here for 2 weeks, and they are coming up again tomorrow for 6 weeks. Then they'll be up for Andy's first birthday this June, for FSILs shower in late summer/early fall and then for BILs wedding in November. And I am expected to let them see the kids every day when they are up, except they don't come over on weekends when DH is off. Then they wonder why he has issues with them.
My dad lives in GA, and travels a lot for work, so it's harder for him to get here. We see him once or twice a year.

My inlaw's attempt to come at least once per month. They usually come in late Thursday night and leave early Monday morning.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
My IL's live out of hte country. My MIL has seen Jordana once, when she was first born. FIL has never seen her. One SIL came when she was 3 months old, 1 SIL has never met her and 1 SIL lives in alabama and saw her when she was first born.
My mom wintered in Florida this year. She saw Jordana almost every month she was gone. She left 12/27. Came up 1/24 and I went down 2/25. Now she is coming back before April 1.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
My parents are in NY. My mom comes to Chicago at least 3-4 times a year. And we go to NY at least 2-3 times a year. My dad has only been to Chicago twice to see Nate - when he was first born and then his baptism.
Thanks to Southwest we've been able to get roundtrip tickets between Chicago and Islip for $98.
My mom is coming for a few days at the end of the month to see the new baby. She'll be back in June/July for another 2 weeks when I go back to work.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
My mother came here in Dec then again in January...I went up there in March. My dad stayed in NY, I still have siblings at home, so he stayed and let my mother extend her time.
My FIL came when baby was born. My MIL hasn't seen him yet. I know its not fair, she lives in FL, but I don't feel comfortable sitting at her house with her without DH. My family is going to Yosemite this summer, so DH invited his mother to go with us.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
My parents live in RI- they see Maddy about once every month and a half- either we go up there, or they come down here. My IL's live in Fl, and they come up about once every three/four motnhs. My MIL will stay for about 2 weeks and my FIl goes back after a few days. We go down to Fla about once a year.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
Last year they came 3 times....once when she was born, in Sept for my nephews b-days, and again at Christmas.
This year, I know they are popping in for a weekend to watch the boys-not sure if they will see us and they are planning on another trip when baby #2 comes this summer.
My family: they were here when she was born, my dad was in town for business so he stayed a couple nights here, and then they were here for her 1st birthday.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
My parents and MIL live 3000 miles away. My parents have seen her 2x since she was born and are coming back in two weeks. They plan on moving out here in a couple of years since they can't bear to be this far away. My MIL has seen her once but that was plenty for me.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
All of DD's grandparents live OOS. (She has 6 grandparents) Each of made it out once and she's 3 months old today. MIL is on her second trip out right now.
I expect that my parents will be out every 6 months. We'll also be going back 1-2x a year so in total, they'll see DD 3-4x a year.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
We are the ones out of state. My dad is once a year, my mother is once to two times a year and my IL's are at least 5 to 6 to 7 times a year. We go home one time a year.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
My MIL sees my children every 6-8 weeks but that is because we go to her. She doesn't drive. Every year she comes to us for Easter weekend, a week in the summer and Thanksgiving. She is also coming for a week in April to help Scott when I go to London. My FIL has seen Molly once in her life. He is not involved or interested at all.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
My MIL doesn't live OOS. She lives about 2.5 hours away and other than coming for a week when DD was born and for a few hours the day of the Christening (she left early to go to a casino), she has not come at all! I'm starting to get really hostile about it. She makes comments to DH like "When am I going to get to see my dear granddaughter again?" I really feel like blasting her -- between DH and I we work 7 days a week. She and her husband do not work at all! Yet we always have to go running up there to see her. Well, I'm not doing it anymore. If she wants to see Marron, she can always come here. We have a spare room where she can stay.
My FIL lives in Florida and has never been up to see DD.
My mom passed away, and I don't have a great relationship with my father, but he has been to see her more than any of the others.
Sorry if this sounds like a vent, but it really makes me mad that she really only has 1 set of grandparents and they never come to see her! Okay, vent over.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
My MIL lives in Tampa, but I've posted before that it may as well be Istanbul. Sean will be 4 in July and she's seen him TWICE in his life - his birth and 1st birthday. She's never met Kevin who's 19 months. My boys have no Grandfathers (both deceased) and they'll never know their "Grandmother" in Florida. Thank God for my Mom (Nana).
It's all pretty sad, actually.

Re: If your parents and/or ILs live OOS
IL's live in Poland and haven't seen DD yet. I think it makes DH very sad. I expect we will probably see them once or twice a year because of the distance.
My parents live 3 miles away and see DD almost every day. My mom didn't see her yesterday and was complaining
