If your parents or IL's offered to buy you a big ticket baby item...
When did they make the offer??
I don't expect a big ticket item from my IL's, but I would be surprised if my mom didn't get us a bigger item like the stroller or maybe the crib (she may not have a lot of money, but she has a huge heart and is very generous to the point she can be).
I am only 20 weeks so it's still very early to think about buying things. But I'm just curious when it was mentioned to you if they did offer to buy you something.

My ILs never said anything about it - but as soon as we registered, they bought our travel system and had it sent to us.
My parents offered to buy our furniture - they casually mentioned it early on, but really started talking about it when we started looking at cribs.

My mom mentioned pretty early on about buying the baby furniture, but she is a big planner so that is normal. lol. Then she asked me if my MIL would like to go half on it she didnt want to take anything away from her. So my DH asked his mom if she was interested and she said yes. So it from both of them!!

MIL is going to buy as much as we allow. She did it for the wedding & cleaned out a good portion of my registry. She has said to me that when we are ready she is going to come & buy whatever we want. The big stuff. My parents will prob talk about it when I am a little further along. They are more superstitious. I know they plan to buy a bunch of stuff too. My mom keeps pushing this one crib she likes on me.

I was talking about furniture and MIL offered to buy some. She went with me to pick it out. She bought the crib and the conversion rails.
My aunts and cousins chipped in and bought us one of the dressers - they too offered early on.

My paretns told me when they found out I was pregnant that they would give me the crib.
MIL hasn't mentioned anything yet, but I also haven't registered yet.

Since we are having twins my parents offered to purchase one set of furniture. After we ordered both sets, my IL's told us they would pay for the other set. (which is in addition to other gifts from both sets....thankfully we are very lucky that everyone is very giving and generous!)

My IL's offered to buy the nursery furniture as soon as we told them we were pregnant, but I think that was because they had done the same thing for DH's brother. My parents couldn't afford to do anything major but did buy the travel system and a bunch of other little things for my shower.

This is my mom too. At around 12 weeks she and my dad offered to buy us a crib.
At around 20 weeks, my sister offered to buy us a stroller, under the condition that she picked out the color 
I'm so lucky, my family is incredibly generous and does even when they can barely do.
As for my ILs, I don't expect anything from them. They have a different mindset about things. It used to bother me so much. They are "generous" in their own way...but every now and then I do call them names

I don't have in-laws, but my parents bought the crib. They told me pretty early on that they would buy it. I think we ordered it around 25 weeks. They also bought the bedding, but they didn't mention that until I told them I was deciding.
This time around, I don't really need any big ticket items but I am sure they will be generous as usual.

Conveniently my MIL said she wanted to but the furniture AFTER we had already ordered it and paid for it! That says volumes right there! Gotta love it!

My ILs are buying us the crib and my parents are buying us a glider. I am not sure exactly when they told us, but maybe around 25 weeks or so?

At about 20 weeks my Mom offered to buy the crib...which is still in it's box in my living room LOL..My ILs bought us non-baby things we needed such as a washer/dryer and such, and I knwo they will be doing most of the babysitting, so I can't really complain.

My MIL asked my mom if she wanted to go in on the nursery furniture when I was maybe 2 or 3 months along. Together, they are buying us the crib and dresser/changing table- very generous of them!

I had to tell my dad he was buying the crib and dresser LOL he would have waited till the baby was popping out to get it for me. My mmom got a lot of big ticket stuff for my shower my inlaws just gave us money

When I mentioned we found a crib for the baby, my mother said that she would like to buy the baby's furniture.
Then, after he was born, we went looking for a second dresser and she asked if they could buy it for DS' christening.

My ILs said that from the time they found out I was pg with my 1st that they were buying her furniture.
This time around they offered to buy my DD a toddler bed since we will be transitioning her to one since we will need the crib for DD#2.
My mom does not have much money so she bought us the pack and play and I didn't find out about that until my shower.

My parents offered to buy our furniture. I already knew they would since they bought my niece's.
I don't expect my MIL to buy anything big.
ETA: My mom told me pretty early on- and then told me she'd order whatever I picked when I was ready while we were registering.

As son as we got pg and announced it to extended family at 12wks my mom started buying things. When we told my grandparents they told us they were giving us a certain amount of  for the nursery furniture, and my parents bought us the travel system for the shower as well as paid for most of the shower. Honestly with my mom we would be talking about things and then she would show up 2 days later with the item. I know once Peanut is here she is buying us the swing, my dad is buying a PNP and my grandparents are giving us money.

both my mom and DH's grandparents offered to pay for the furniture very early on so we figured they could split the cost.
We are looking to order the furniture in the next few weeks (I'm almost 26 weeks) and my mom has recently brought it up again but DH's grandparents havent, so it looks like DH is going to have to have that awkward conversation and ask them if they really meant it
