If you're a SAHM or on maternity leave...

What time do you manage to get out of the house in the morning? There are baby groups scheduled for 9:30am here and I'm wondering who ever makes it to them!?!?

Re: If you're a SAHM or on maternity leave...

I make my appts at 10 (chiro, Dr, etc.) .... I'm usually OK, but definitely there by 10:15.

9:30 is a little rough!

Here too. I usually give him his 5:30 or 6AM feeding and then get myself ready when he's asleep, then give him another bottle before we leave for wherever.

Today we are heading into DH's office to show off DS Chat Icon, so I am up and all ready now at 8AM and just waiting for DS to wake up to dress him and feed him before we go.

Re: If you're a SAHM or on maternity leave...

At the age your DS is, 9:30 was feasible since DD was not really on any schedule other than eating and sleeping and she would sleep in the car/carseat for whatever appointment I had, or errand I was running. As she got older and developed more of a schedule, 9:30 would NEVER happen since that is during her morning nap. Now we really don't get out of the house until around 11:30. The past two weeks have actually been later as she has extended her morning nap until 11:30.

We are starting up again Wednesday at Music Together and the class is at 11:30, but it's a 3 minute drive from my house and I'll wake her from her nap for that since she tolerates being woken up well.

With my first DD it was rough getting out early in the am, now that I have another and my first has to be at school by 8am that is perfect for me.

When I take Victoria to daycare in the morning - I give us 1 1/2 hours to get ready. Bags are packed the night before which helps. Usually I start off feeding the baby and then get everyone dressed. Victoria eats her breakfast while I get myself ready and then teeth and hair get brushed. Some days it works well and others it takes it a bit longer - all depends on Julianne's mood and feeding for the morning

Re: If you're a SAHM or on maternity leave...

We haven't had to get out of the house that early yet... but DD is only one month old. I like taking my time in the morning to get her fed, dressed and down for a nap so I've been scheduling dr. appts for the afternoon. If we had to get out that early I think we could though, DD is pretty easy and loves the car.

Re: If you're a SAHM or on maternity leave...

It depends what we are doing or where we are going because of the extent of packing the diaper bag, but my main saving time tip is for me to shower the night before, after DS goes to bed.

I will say that it's easier when you do have commitments (classes, GTGs, etc..) to be ready by a certain time.

I find myself dragging my feet to get ready if I have "free" time for errands, etc..

Same here, it's much easier for us if everything is ready to go.

To be honest, I wouldn't want to be out of the house that early because it would throw off DS's routine. I usually run my errands and get out of the house after his noonish bottle. That way I have the morning to wash bottles, do laundry and get myself ready. I make sure everything is packed and ready to go, give him the noon bottle and then we're out the door!

I usually don't leave the house until 3! Chat Icon

But I could be somewhere by 9:30 if I had to, although I would try to avoid that time since DC take their nap at 9.

Re: If you're a SAHM or on maternity leave...

Thinking the same thing! I have a hard time getting out for an 11am appt!!

It stinks cuz there's stroller strides classes at 10...that's basically impossible. I'd probably have to wake her from her nap to get there...

Re: If you're a SAHM or on maternity leave...

When dd was a baby it was definitely hard to do anything when she was taking 2 naps.

If I was doing anything in the morning, it had to be scheduled at 10, she would take her 1st nap from about 8:15-9:30ish....then she would take her 2nd around 1ish...so there were only small windows of availability to do anything.

When she transitioned into one nap it was much easy to do stuff...although now we have to be home by 12:30 for her nap.

Most of the time in the beginning if I had to go anywhere..I would get in the car and go so she could take that 1st nap in the car...that way she'd be waking when I got to my desitination.

I can't seem to make it out before 10am--but I have two. Now that DD#1 is in school FT beginning at 8:15am it should be easier to get my act together...
