if you've rented out a house before...
DH and I have to move in the next few months and we plan to rent out our house.
I feel like I've only heard BAD stories about being a landlord. Anyone have a positive experience to make me feel better?
If you've rented out a home, did you use some sort of management company or anything?

if you've rented out a house before...
We rent out our condo. We have not had a problem with the exception of a couple of late payments. We went through a real estate agent so we did do a background and credit check on the tentants. We were very picky with who moved in and did nix a few off the list for various reasons. We do have a management company with the condo that takes care of the lawn, snow, and any minor repairs so that makes it a TON easier.

Thanks so much. Did you hire your own management company, or is it just part of the condo complex? I'm really thinking we should use one, esp. since we won't be living nearby. If you hired your own, would you mind sharing or FM'ing me the name (if it's on LI).
We also are using a real estate agent to list the house and she seems VERY in-tune with us bout getting the "right" people. Fingers crossed. Thanks again :)

The management team is part of our complex so I don't have a recommendation for you, but it really does make things easier.
