I'll ask the mommies this...rocker/glider

So we finally have the nursery put together, but i really don't think we have a enough room for a rocker(SMALL room). How imperitive is it that we have one in the nursery? Can we put it in our bedroom? Or is that not very functional?

TIA

DD is almost a year old and I still use it, I used it for BF and now I use it right before she goes to bed and we read in it. You can use it in a any room I would think living room is good too when baby is a newborn.

we had ours in our bedroom at first (my parents were coming to stay with us & I didn't want to BF in front of them and then we were having OOT visitors for approx. 6 weeks). We moved it to the living room after everyone left & that worked great.

My son's room is on the small side so we bought a small scale glider from Target. I think it's fine to put in another room though. My son is four months and I've used it every single day. I couldn't have breastfed without it and now I give him his nighttime bottle there to unwind in peace and quiet in his room!

DS's room was big enough that we had the glider in his room. DD's room is smaller, so we moved the glider to another room. I wouldn't put it in your bedroom, because then whoever is using it to feed DC in the middle of the night will be waking up the person who is sleeping (hopefully the person sleeping will be you once in a while...)

I would die without my glider. Especially when Paige was a newborn. It helped us calm her crying many of times. I would definitely get one.

I had one (well, two actually). I used it often. It's doable without one but they do make it easier.

It still amazes me how my little babies knew I wasn't standing up & rocking but was sitting in a chair & rocking.

Oh Yeah.. I DEF> plan on getting one, I think its the one baby thing my HUBBY looks forward to getting the most. I just didn't know if it would work okay in another room. Now that I think about it though, maybe it would be nice to have somewhere that I can see a tv or something. We were thinking our bedroom, but a great point about midnight feedings..all stuff we will learn soon i guess...eeks

Thanks for your help all.Chat Icon

My DH was very into it as well. We bought a really nice one & picked out fabric that would go in our living room/den since we plan on using it for a very long time. It was expensive. Chat Icon DH loves it and so does anyone who comes over and sits in it.

we still use our rocker and DD is 10mos. You could always get a rocking chair that is smaller than a glider/recliner. We have a hand-me-down recliner we use in DD's room. I def recommend it, esp if you plan on nursing - they are so helpful and comfortable!

I bought one and put it in the nursery thinking I would get up at night and take care of DS there.

In reality, I only used it twice. I BF/feed DS in our bedroom. He is still in his bassinet in our bedroom. I get his bottle or BF him in our bed. I am way to exhausted to go to multiple different rooms in the middle of the night.

Once DS sleeps in his crib, I am sure I will use it a lot more.

I have one, but it's in my living room. And actually am getting ready to throw the ottoman away. Note: don't let a 225lb person sit on the ottoman. It will break Chat Icon I never used it for her night time feedings since she slept with me anyway.
