We're flipping back and forth on commercials.
Its not like you need to watch every second of american idol. You get the idea when you flip.

DH is getting me DVR for when we move and get Time-Warner.....he made my month when he told me that.
But for now I'm doing the old flipping the channels when the commercials hit

DVR does really help between two shows espically since both are an hour..
If you have DVR, watch a two hour show 40 mins late and you don't have to see any commericails thus making the show an 1:20 instead of 2 hours long
Both are good shows though..
