I'm so upset, I don't know what to do.
Everything was planned and finalized for my Dad's move, down to the minute detail. Movers are lined up, we booked the elevator at the apartment, my brother freed all his appointments to help me, and my mother is even coming down Friday to help us unpack. Everything is packed and ready to go.
And, then, Raymour and Flanigan called one last time today to confirm delivery on Friday. Between 10:30-1:30.
BUT, when we ordered the furniture we told them the building will NOT allow deliveries between 12-1:15, and after 3:30pm. They put it on our receipt, put it in the PC, and assured us the delivery company would schedule the delivery around it. I got a call YESTERDAY from R&F confirming delivery, and confirming that they were aware of the time restrictions.
Then I get this call today saying the time for delivery is 10:30-1:30. I called back and I've been screaming at them all night. They're telling me it was the store's responsibility to call them or email them with specific instructions and they cannot change the routing at this last minute.
My only option now is to schedule delivery on another date, which just isn't going to work. I don't have enough time to scramble and rearrange everything.
I'm a mess. I don't know what to do. I'm at the end of my rope. I don't think I can handle much more of this crap.
Any advice?

I would let them come to do the delivery....and then tell them that you had said specifically that you can not have delivery until after 3:30m....they will have to come back. Unless they can work something out with the building super....

Re: I'm so upset, I don't know what to do.
I know how stressful these things are.
If they said 10:30 - 1:30, it's only the last hour or so of the window that's in question. I'd leave the delivery scheduled as it is and hope for the best.
The worst thing that would happen is that you refuse delivery and reschedule. If you don't want to take the chance that they'll deliver within the first two-thirds of the window, you'll have to reschedule anyway.
ETA: Call the store and the salesperson, too.

Re: I'm so upset, I don't know what to do.
sorry your stressing...... any chance the building may be able to bend the rules a little?? what if you told them del. is scheduled b/t 10-12 ...there is a chance that might even happen right? and lets just say the driver gets lost or was stuck in traffic.... I would imagine this happens from time to time...... do you think they wouldn't allow them to moe the stuff in???

have you called the store directly- they should honor their promise to you and make the delivery happen within the promised time frame.

I would have them come and play dumb
then slip the super a $20
I have lived in big buildings for the last 5 years- and I wouldn't stress over this- you already have the elevator right?

I agree. I would go forward with the delivery. If they come during the time that they are not suppose to deliver, then you can put pressure on either the building or the movers to stay.

Re: I'm so upset, I don't know what to do.
Is there any way they can put you first on the route? Maybe have DH call & act really nice, explaining all of the stress & that they are delivering to a senior citizen etc. This kind of thing has worked for me in similar situations. My DH is a real smooth talker. No wonder he's in sales. Or as some PP said, can you call the super/building management and explain the situation?

Re: I'm so upset, I don't know what to do.
The woman at the customer service delivery center was supposed to call me back about her attempts to reroute. And she never did. BIG suprise there.
I'm just going to play it by ear, and in the meantime, BEG the building to let us move during whatever time the furniture arrives. They are fairly strict though, because it is a senior independent living community.
So, I guess I can just live in a permanent state of stress until Friday night. This should be fun.

This is exactly what I would do. You have nothing to lose by trying and you have a receipt that clearly states your instructions.

Doesn't quite work that way - it's not a typical building, it's more of a senior independent/assisted living building. There is no super.
But, I'm going to play dumb. Let them come when they have to come and I'll just deal with it as it happens. Either demand that R&F STAY until they are allowed to use the elevator, or sweetalk the building relocation coordinator to allow them to do so during the restricted hours. She's a real meanie though.

No
I just want to fast forward to next week, where I'm relaxing in my house sans dad, and he's nice and settled into his new place. Oh wait, yes, I forgot, that's when MIL takes over for 3 weeks!

Re: I'm so upset, I don't know what to do.
but she makes you yummy things
Here's something DH said to me last night when I was stressing over Fred.
You've done everything you can. You can beat yourself up...it will be what it will be. Really, these words are so true and I felt better after he said them. I can't do a damn thing about it, so maybe the best case scenario will happen and not the worst.
I am pot calling the kettle black here but it's good solid advice.

I agree with the playing dumb thing - except to the delivery people.
I'm sure you can't let things slide with the building as those senior places are very difficult to deal with. What you can do is slip the delivery guys extra money to work it out.
The fact that this is costing a dime more is aggravating but you're almost across the finish line!

Re: I'm so upset, I don't know what to do.
This has been one huge hurdle after another for you, hasn't it?? Definitely play dumb. Make R&F Stay if the building is being picky. I don't understand the moving hours. That seems so silly to limit it during daytime hours!
Best of luck!!! Hope everything works out seamlessly!

That's a good point - I didn't think of that - the delivery guys are probably much more amenable to bribes than the building. I'll bring lots of extra cash - if it takes a few extra hundred dollars to "convince" them to stay until the building allows them to bring the furniture up, then it's totally worth it.

Re: I'm so upset, I don't know what to do.
I would let them come. Worst case scenario they come out at a wrong time and you can't bribe the super. Then they have to come back at another time anyways. It is their problem not yours if they have to come back.

also because it is around lunch time- you may be able to bribe with food- get them to change when they eat lunch
