So upset with my job, don't know what to do!!

I am so upset, I don't even know where to begin. I work in a childcare setting and I absolutely love my job as Pre-School teacher. The children are great and it's a rewarding job, however at times it can be a bit overwhelming and stressful. On top of this, our two directors are so unprofessional and rude to their employees. Even the parents have issues with them. I am getting sick and tired of their belittling and making it feel like I'm unworthy of what I do with these kids. Not even myself, but they degrade other teachers in front of all of us. I'm at that point where I'm sick of it. Though I love what I do, I wanted to take time off from childcare and venture off and do some thing else. I feel that if I want to have my own children someday, I wouldn't want to care for other peoples children while I'm out working and my kids are elsewhere.....asides from the fact that after about 10 years in the field, I'm burnt out. I wanted the group that I have now, to graduate in May and then quit in the summer and pursue another career (in what I don't know yet)

So needless to say, I'm walking down the hallway today and I hear my bosses talking about me, how I hord supplies in my room and I don't know how to put things away. Instead of coming to me and asking me to put the stuff away, they are talking about this in the middle of the hallway. Mind you, I brought the supplies into my room THIS MORNING!! It's not like I had them in my room for weeks. Now, they didn't see me coming up the hallway. I go into the bathroom and I hear my assistant boss going "So you should talk to her about Graduation, I mean when does she plan on doing that. She's gonna slack with that, just like she does every thing else". I have been doing Graduation for the past FIVE years...never let them down. Always complimented by every one....now I am slacking off...when mind you we do Graduation in May. I stormed out of the bathroom and said "So I never knew I slacked at doing Graduation". The assistant boss was so suprised to see me in the bathroom she made believe she didn't know what I said. I was beyond fuming and now I"m so upset. I have HAD it. We get treated like we are two years old at this place. I can't even tell you the things that happen. SO now I don't know what to do. I so want to give my two weeks notice (like I said I'm planning on leaving anyways) and let them deal with Graduation. I love my kids to death and hate doing this to them, but I can't deal with my bosses anymore. I started taking my stuff home already. I feel like I'm acting in haste but after hearing a comment like that, what would you guys do????

Thanks so much for letting me vent. I'm so upset....I have practically grew up there...volunteered when I was 14 because my mom worked there, and now I'm 27...so figure that's how long I've been there. It's a hard decision, yet I don't want to be treated the way I have been. People have been quitting left to right and nothing is done about it. Ughh...but what do you guys think of this?

I dont' have any advice, but those bosses sound like miserable people!!!! It seems like they were just complaining to hear their own voices. At least you said something to the Assistant , now they'll know next time to watch what they say.

I know exactly what it's like to have a boss who is a PITA and honestly, there is nothing that you can do to change the boss. I always say that if my boss weren't such a jerk, I would be so happy!!!!

Maybe you could do something on your own? Start your own preschool? It sounds like you would be great at it.

I know you feel like quitting, but I think you should wait it out and make a plan--figure out your next career move, and leave on YOUR OWN TERMS. If you let them get to you now, you will be unemployed with no thoughts of what you want to do in the future. Treat it as what it is--a way to bring home the money to pay your rent or mortgage and buy good--until you can get together a plan and get out of there. Good luck!

I wouldn't let them drive you out, not that I'm saying don't leave, but figure out what you want to do next and then have that lined up when you leave, don't let them have the satisfaction that you are unemployed for any length of time!

PS they sound like total jerks!
