I'm up to my eyeballs in baby snot

Need opinions. Declan was coughing last week so I took him to the Dr. They said it was a cold and post nasal drip was making him cough. 3 days later he was still coughing and I called and they prescribed him a 3 day course of azithromax and he seemed better. Then at the end of last week Ronan started coughing. I waited since I figured it was a cold also like his brother, but again it got worse so I took him to the Dr. Again-said it wasa cold...

Yesterday they both started getting really stuffed up and draining clear mucous from their noses. I had to suction Ronan about 10 times last night. Declan won't let me near him and has crazy baby strength! SO do I take them back to the Dr? No fevers. Ronan is acting fussy and having trouble sleeping and D seems OK. WDYT?

increase mucous is a symptom of teething

clear mucous = normal

yellow or green mucous = infection

honestly, Mel, if it is clear, there is not much the doctor can or will do...these colds you just have to ride out. Are you using a humidifier? try baby vicks rub to clear them up?

Not much else you can do unfortunately....if they sound like their chest is congested, I may take them just to make sure

Yeah thats what I figured and I'm spending all their college money on Dr co=pays! I'm going to CVS now to get Baby Vicks. I also have that vapor baby bath I'll try that tonight. Thanks

I never had much luck with the nasal aspirator. I felt like if I put the saline drops in and suctioned, all that came out were the drops. If I suctioned dry, I got little to nothing. The drops alone helped though, as did the humidifier and just taking him in the bathroom and blasting the hot water and taking a steam with him.

Summer colds stink!

Hang in there, it will pass in a few days.

If one of them gets sick, does the other one usually get it too?
