Immune Disorders Anyone?
I have not been diagnosed with this yet, but was just reading about it on the internet and can't stop thinking about it. I had a D&C for a m/c in September. The embryo simply stopped growing.Pathology reports showed that it was NOT chromosomal. The chromosomes were perfect. So, this makes me suspicious of what caused it, since most m/c are indeed chromosomal. One of the possibilities, is Immune Disorders, where your own immune system attacks the fetus.
Does anyone have experience with this? If this is indeed the problem, can it be controlled with medication?
Thanks

Re: Immune Disorders Anyone?
I have a SLEW of immune issues
I can't even name them all without looking at my paperwork
If I were you I would ask to do an RPL panel to start...and go from there

Re: Immune Disorders Anyone?
I have both Natural killer cells and blood clotting.. My m/c came back with the same report.. No issues at all.. I highly recommend getting tested for all of this... i dont know the name of the test.. SIRM does all of these that many others dont.. I would try there if you cant get them where you are going...

I read in an infertility book that medications can help. I think it was steroids that are prescribed for immune system disorders while TTC

Steroids are one treatment-I was on prednisone for the first 16 weeks of my pregnancy. I was also on lovenox for some clotting disorders which are immune related. I would follow the others advice given and also join the yahoo immunology support group-there is tons of great info there and it will lead you to all other info out there

Re: Immune Disorders Anyone?
Have you been tested at all yet? Has the doc talked with you about this?
If you are basing this off of what the internet says, I say speak with your doctor first. Sometimes people mc and there is no medically diagnosed reason.
I know you want a reason as would I, but try to stay off the internet. Talk to your doctor.
My doctor always tells me that the internet didn't go to med school. He's right.
It doesn't mean you shouldn't get tested but try not to jump to conclusions.

I respectfully disagree There are so many women that would never have been able to keep a pregnancy if it wasn't for the internet. There are women who have gone through this that know MUCH more than many Dr's. Question your Dr's and be your own advocate. GL

Re: Immune Disorders Anyone?
while I agree that you need to be your own advocate, I think in many cases the internet can create more anxiety and more trouble.
Always good to be informed and that's why I said first to ask the doctor.
I'm an internet junkie myself with medical stuff and I've had lots of medical stuff personally. I've gotten myself nuts over stuff that just wasn't happening to me. That's why I posted what I did.
Many times it can create more anxiety than it's worth and a good physician who takes their patients seriously will be proactive and listen and do what needs to be done.
When, I wish you the best of luck and I hope you don't have anything wrong. Talk to your doc.
