In built fridge water filter or free standing water filter

I have an in built water filtration system in our fridge - its a new GE fridge so hopefully it works to 100% of what its supposed to do. For some reason I am not completely convinced that it takes away the impurities and wonder would I be better to buy a brita or a pur or something. Its something I have seen just my own feeling.

Any feedback?

thanks

I believe the built-in refridgerator water filters you are referring to work the same exact way a brita or pur pitcher filter would work.

They have a filter that you replace just the way you would in the pitcher or faucit attachment so I don't see why it wouldn't work in your new GE model.

My sister has one and it works perfectly fine, though hers is an LG.

Minus the sister part, ditto.

Well.... there really are no impurities, but if you are concerned, the one in the refrigerator will work well.

I don't know what kind of fridge you have, but I have a Kenmore Gallery series and was able to get the filter at Sears where they sell the fridges.

If you do a search online for water filter replacement you should find something. I ordered mine online but cannot find it now...a light comes on the front of our fridge when its time to change the filter.

you should be able to get one from the manufacturer of your fridge. My parents have a kitchen aid one and have ordered the replacements directly from kitchen aid.
