In home child care $$
I am working on setting up child care for September and need some guidance in regards to $$$ I will be having a "mom friend" watching DS who will be 15 months at her house when I go back to work. I have no idea how much to offer to pay her. What do you think is a reasonable rate?

Re: In home child care $$
I use to watch two little boys in my home about a year ago. One little guy was here M-W-F from 7:30 to 3:30 and she paid me $65/day but did not pay me when she kept him home. The other little one was here Mon through Thurs and she paid me $90/day and also paid me when she kept him home UNLESS she gave me a lot of advance notice, like for a vacation or something.

Re: In home child care $$
We used to pay $60/day when we used an in-home sitter. We used her for 2 school years from 7:30-3:00. We didn't pay when DS wasn't there (illness, school recess, grandparents watched him over night). She was not licenced.

Re: In home child care $$
I pay $7/hour for 4 days a week. I do not pay if we dont use her for a day but if my DS is there for a half day only I will pay the full day. My babysitter watches a few other kids (which I prefer) so she shouldnt charge the same as someone providing one on one care. Since I didnt want my DS alone with out any other kids all day this works great for us! Our babysitter makes a killing each month in cash......

Re: In home child care $$
I watch a little girl in my home. I am a former teacher with 8 years teaching experience, but am not a licensed in-home daycare provider.
I babysit for her Monday - Friday, 6:20am-5pm. She goes to school 3x/week for 2.5 hours each day. I do drive her to school and pick her up. She pays me $40 on school days and $50 on non-school days.
Roughly 45 hours a week (not really counting travel time to and from her preschool) and I get $220 a week so it works out to $4.88/hour.
I do not get paid if she is sick or stays home for another reason.

You need a raise. I paid that for two days a week!
