In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
A spinoff to my newborn thread
My DD: Difficult: EATING, EATING, EATING Sleep issues, although relatively minor but they resurface more often than I like!
Easy: Loves to learn and picks things up quickly Generally a pretty happy & content child (who definitely has her spunky moments!) Is attached to me while I'm with her but when I'm not with her (if I have to leave in the morning, etc) she adjusts right away and is happy

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
Hard: Since he doesn't talk he sometimes gets upset and frustrated.
Trips to the ped. are absolute torture.
Easy: I have to say almost everything about this kid is easy now. He listens and understands everything. He takes great naps, he has a great bedtime routine, he is a pretty good eater (most of the time....there are times we battle it out but that is less and less lately)

Kaydyn is only a year, but:
Easy: She's very content to play by herself. She keeps herself occupied very easily.
Eats pretty much anything we've given her.
Still has about a 2-3 hour nap each day.
Difficult: She is an ACTIVE kid. Her newest thing is climbing on EVERYTHING.
She puts EVERYTHING in her mouth. I can't imagine the amount of lint, dirt, crumbs...etc she has eaten. We religiously clean our living room but she still manages to find stuff to eat.

PROS:
smart, adorable, good eater, great sleeper, good napper, sweet, kind, fun, loving, well behaved in public
CONS:
Gets REALLY upset when he can't do exactly what he wants when he wants.
Oh and he's glued to me all the time.

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
difficult: * he is into everything and knows what he is touching is wrong and look at me like "look at what I am touching" - it drives me batty to say "no, don't touch the stove, tv, microwave, outlet" all day long!
easy * same easy personality as a baby, is friendly with everyone, wants to play with eveyone he meets * he understands everything so it's been easier to communicate and know what he wants * he eats everything we eat, so I do not have to make separate meals for him.

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
for my DS Difficult: -can be a mommies boy -inconsistent with eating...some days its great, some days not (currently hating any and all vegetables) -hates diaper changes for some strange reason -is a pretty good sleeper through the night but for some reason gets up b/t 4-6 AM 6/7 nights a week and ends up in our bed In general my DS is very active and on the go...as my SIL said last night, he's ALL boy LOL (which is both easy and difficult)
Easy: -naps 2-3 hours a day -is very happy and social, so he's great at play dates, music classes...he LOVES kids -extremely smart and bright- learns quickly and picks up everything -still sits good in his stroller so he's great to go out and about with

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
DD 20 months:
Difficult: STUBBORN when she wants something, she better get it HIGH energy (exhausting for me) Doesn't like to sit still (makes for going out to dinner challenging)
Easy: For the most part, she is really easy now. She's so funny and entertains herself a lot. She is an AMAZING sleeper. Never fights EVER for both naps and bedtime. She listens well and communicates brilliantly.
Her fearlessness can be both

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
DD is easy in the sense that she is a creature of habit. I always know when she wants or needs to eat, sleep or play. Her routine is like a clock and is easy to follow.
DD is difficult in a couple of ways. She is sometimes a picky eater. Some days are great and some days she eats hardly anything. DD is most difficult in the sense that she is ACTIVE. She wants to be on the go all the time. It is rare that she will sit and play quietly. She wants to dance, sing, climb, play, and run all the time. It is exhausting! But I love that she is curious and outgoing.

NOT FAIR!
I would have rather had a terrible pregnancy and an easy baby/toddler than the other way around (which was clearly my case).

right now Maddie is in her no, I don't want to do it mom phase- which is exactly what she says to me whenever I ask her to do anything- and it doesn't matter what that anything is- could be eating ice cream- and she'll STILL say, "no mom i don't want to do it"

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
Bella is 3 years old:
EASY: --so polite and wonderful in public --sleeps 11-12 hours a night --still naps over one hour each day --adaptable to ANY situation. --the situations where I EXPECT meltdowns she handles with ease. . DIFFICULT: --situations where she SHOULD be fine, she freaks out for no reason. --the bedtime ritual is out of control, she takes forever to go down now. --too smart (getting manipulative and combative) --wakes up in the middle of the night saying "cover me" (DIVA much?)
Overall, I see how other children Bella's age act and I KNOW that I am blessed with a smart, sweet, lovable, and amazing girl.

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
okay, I don't get off as easy for the toddler stage as the newborn stage
but overall my boy is still pretty easy.
the hard stuff: -CLINGS to me, I cannot move without him being attached, makes getting anything done very hard. he doesn't do this to daddy or anyone else..just me. -insists on feeding himself completely all the time and won't wear a bib, so meal time is always a mess. -FRUSTRATION from not being able to talk.....
The rest is pretty easy. He is great about bed time. pretty good about naps, he is a good eater, and he is really starting to understand everything now.

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
this post will be a little different than my newborn one:
Easy -
-sleeps well -naps well -goes down by himself -when he *does* listen he listens well -eats well for the most part -gives mommy kisses
Difficult
-extremely stubborn and strong willed -temper tantrums to the max -very independent and wants to do what he wants to do when he wants to do them --- no matter what -- this is when he doesn't listen -gets very obsessed with things -seperation anxiety
I love my little guy!

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
DD is actually extremely easy in comparison to DS as a toddler, but I think that's because she has her big brother to look up to. She follows his lead and she has him as a playmate. I would say the most difficult thing is her desire to get into trouble, lol. She enjoys climbing and trying to get into/onto places that she shouldn't. She also likes to try leaping off the couch

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
Easy: She is a very happy, outgoing kid. She adjusts well to new places, people, situations. She's so smart, picks up and remembers everything. Potty training was a breeze. She's the most affectionate child I have ever met!!
Difficult: She's a girl Eating, horrible, horrible eater Sleeping, goes down no problem but wakes multiple times per night. Has an attitude likes she's 16

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
Easy... She is always pretty much happy. She is easy to transport for the most part. She is up for different things all the time. She brushes her teeth without a problem. She is extremely sweet and loving. She sleeps 12 hours a night usually but wakes up a lot during the night (not for long though.)
Difficult..
Where do I start?!?!?!
HARDLY EATS A THING! Is CONSTANTLY moving. Will never just fall asleep anywhere. If she naps, which is rare, she is impossible to put to sleep at night. Shes a screamer and a thrower STILL. She tends to wake up a couple of times a night whining. Not a huge deal but a little nerve racking.
Megan was the EASIEST infant EVER. She was always sleeping. She NEVER cried or fussed. She was always happy. Never sick. It is amazing how night and day it is from infant to toddler.

Re: In what ways is/was your TODDLER easy and what ways were they difficult?
He had some difficulty with eating and transitioning to solids but that's just about a thing of the past. We still have to make sure he continues to gain sufficient weight. He's still easygoing, so far, like he was when he was a baby.
