Induction Question for 2nd time moms
I am now 6 days overdue and I am soooo anxious and soooo ready to deliver my DD but she has other thoughts...
Have any 2nd time moms ever been induced because I REALLY have a feeling it is going to come to that... My induction date is Feb 27th and I am losing hope that DD will come on her own.
Any advice as to what I should expect from the induction?
Labor vibes too please!!!!

Re: Induction Question for 2nd time moms
im so ignorant- i didnt think Drs would let 2nd time + moms go that far past their due dates. i was induced with my first at 41wks and it started with cervidil then pitocin, and i progressed from there. My 2nd came at 38wks 3d- i really hope that this one comes early or at least on time- im 38wks now and cant imagine going past my DD. and {{{{{LABOR VIBES}}}} for you!

I might have written my question incorrectly... I mentioned 2nd time moms because 1st time moms would not have been induced yet...
I am a first time mom looking for advice from the 2nd time moms who might have been induced.
I am also losing my mind, so I might not be making any sense

Re: Induction Question for 2nd time moms
I was induced with both of my kids. First time was quick, second time my son flew out in 4 pushes--walked in a 9am and was holding him at 1230. I am a very successful induction story. Good Luck

Can you tell me what they will actually do for the induction? I know it is probably a dumb question, but since I really think DD is not going to come on her own, I want to be prepared with info from real moms- not just internet info :) thanks in advance

If you are not dilated they will insert Cervadil which is like a tampon to soften the cervix, possibly break your water and begin you on Pitocin. The first time I needed Cervadil, for my 2nd I was already 4cm dilated. So it was skipped, they broke my water and started me on Pitocin. The will give you an epi when you ask to make you comfortable. Feel free to FM mewith any questions

Re: Induction Question for 2nd time moms
I was induced with my son - 12 days past my due date.
I wasn't dialated at all so they started me on Cervadil. The Cervadil going in was really really bad. I then kept that inside for 12 hours. During that time I had bad contractions so I thought I was def. dialating. After the 12 hours was up they took out the Cervadil (painful also) and checked me --- still NOTHING. Nada. They wanted me to do another 12 hours of Cervadil and I refused. I was 12 days late and not a centimeter dialated. I wanted the baby out then and there. His heartbeat was strong and that was all I cared about. I basicalyl demanded a c-section. They did one and thank god they did - he would have never come out vaginally my drs. said....he was ten pounds!

Re: Induction Question for 2nd time moms
I was induced twice- the first time ended in a vaginal, easy birth and this time the baby went into distress and I needed a C-section. HOWEVER, the c-section had nothing to do with my induction. The baby was just too big to fit down my birth canal and was turned backward.
I would say go for it at this point!

Re: Induction Question for 2nd time moms
I was induced at 38 weeks b/c of high BP and severe swelling. I was 1-2 cm dilated and 70% effaced. I was supposed to get cytotec, which is faster than cervadil, but had been contracting too much on my own for it. For some reason, the doctor decided to not use cervadil and just induce with pitocin.
The doctor broke my water 4 or 5 hours after starting pitocin. At that point, I don't think I was more than 2.5 cm dilated. The dosage of Pitocin was increased every hour. Once my water broke, the contractions became painful. I got an epidural 4 hours after my water broke. I was eventually given close to the maximum dose of pitocin, but I never dilated past 4 or 5 cm. I ended up with a c-section almost 24 hours after my induction began.
