Infant Car Seat??

So a generous neighbor just gave us a barely used infant seat and extra base.
My question is how do i find out if it's still safe to use? I went on graco's website and the car seat safety website and can't find the model number on there. Which it says there has been no recalls then.
Can I trust this as being reliable?
Or is there a place i can go put in the model number and serial number and see if it's still good?

Can you find/post the following information. What is the seat name? The model number? The manufacture date?

Next, was the seat washed? What about the straps? Where was the seat stored, is there any mold or mildew?

Was the seat in an accident?

It's a graco snug ride model # 7411BLB
Manufactured in 050903

The seat was washed and the straps have no tears, mildow or mold.
And the seat was not in an accident.

Re: Infant Car Seat??

I dont think the experts recommend you use a car seat after 5 or 6 years and that seat was manufactured in 03. If you can afford it I would buy a new one.

The seat was not on a recall list, however, I would consider buying a newer seat.

Graco goes with the 6 year expiration, however they always expire a seat in December of the 6th year. This means that a all seats manufactured January 1, 2003 through December 21, 2003 expire December 31, 2009.

Depending when you are due you may or may not get the full use of this seat prior to its expiration.

This comes down to your final decision.
