Infant Car Seat..Can i still use it or should i buy another one?
I bought a Graco travel system when i had my 1st DD in 2005. Im now due in July and was wondering if i can use the same infant car seat that came with the travel system? It is in excellent condition, but i dont know since its 5 years old if i should just buy a new one?

I would call the manufacturer and check...my MIL told me the infant seats have expiration dates (maybe the plastic wears down?)??

 we used ours from dd #1 when dd#2 came - hers was from 2007...but only b/c her original one suffered damage on a flight and we had to get a new one, otherwise it would have been from 2006! good point though about calling them, although realistically, won't they tell you to get a new one to make $$?

I *think* it is five years from the date it was manufactured , so 2005 is cutting it kinda close.
I'd probably get a new one

If you look on the seat, most Graco seats should say "do not use after xxxx" stamped into the plastic and/or will have a date of manufacture on it. Graco seats can be kind of weird, they're not always a solid 6 or so years after manufacture date.
Since you've owned the seat and know it's history, I personally wouldn't have any issues using the seat if it wasn't expired. My only thing would be if it's only a 3 pt harness to purchase a new seat with a 5 point harness..

you can call up graco to see if you can still use it and i believe on their website you can put in the serial number and it will tell you the best to use date also.

I was told( and I have no clue if it is true or not) that if you had an accident and your child was injured in an expired seat, insurance may not cover you. AGAIN, not sure if it is true. I was in this position and we bought a new seat.
