Infant Fussiness...Gas Pain, Reflux? Any help would be appreciated!
DS is 5 weeks old. He grunts a lot throughout the day. He tightens up his belly and looks uncomfy. His face sometimes turns red. He toots a lot, and poops about twice per day. I switched him from Similac Advance to Sensitive, and his poops were less watery but he still seems very unsettled at times.
He burps, and has spit up (enough to mention) only 4 times since he was born. two of those were kind of chunky, looking almost like rice cereal (when clearly he has not had rice cereal) or cottage cheese. (Gross...sorry!)
I have pumped his legs, massaged his belly, and tried to make him feel better. Mylicon, and Gripe water, too. It isn't all day, but when it does happen, it can last several hours and his cries break my heart. He seems in pain. Ped said it is normal baby gas.
Anyone have any insight? Thank you!

My ped recommended a different gripe water it's called Colic Ease and it's the only thing that has worked for us so far. It has different ingredients then the usual gripe water. It's really hard to find, I think in Long Island it's only sold in Babylon and Massapequa. You can look up the locations on the website. Your LO will smell like a dill pickle because it has dill in it lol but it's all worth it if it works. I have really seen a difference.

That sounds to me like gas. DS1 had bad gas pains. He would grunt and wiggle around trying to get it out. I switched to Good Start Formula around 4 weeks and he was better within a week after that. He still "tooted" alot but there was no pain associated. Try the mylicon drops before a bottle. That might help.
DS2 has reflux...he never spit up in the beginning....he was just miserable, crying alot in obvious pain. I tried the formula switch at 2 weeks and it didnt do anything. He always sounded congested, wouldnt lay on his back EVER, would scream and turn bright red after eating a bottle....Then at 4/5 weeks we put him on zantac and he became sersioulsy the happiest baby I have ever seen. He is literally always smiling.

Can they have reflux without really spitting up that much? How did they diagnose DS2?

My DD is going through this too..I think it's gas pain and/or reflux. I feel so bad :(
She has similar symptoms as you described, but she is also spitting up A LOT!
I dont really know what to do at this point. At night she really only wants to sleep if she's laying on her tummy on my chest. She will scream on her back after a few minutes of laying there. Sometimes she will fall asleep for a few minutes and then wake up screaming.
I have to ask my ped when I go in next week.

Oh, I have to ask him about this. Did Dr Jassey recommend it? I mentioned her symptoms at her first appointment, but she was a happy spitter at that point and they said to just keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse, which is has. I will ask about this and hope it will help her too!
What symptoms did your son have?

My DS is 3 weeks old and experiences the same thing. He is EBF. Gas drops have helped a bit. It is so sad to see them uncomfortable.
