Intense gas pain?
So last night I made soft tacos. They tasted great, and were very spicy, but I love spicy food and eat it daily. Well a couple of hours after I ate it my felt intense cramps, I mean to the point that I thought that something was severely wrong, and if it did not stop i would have to go to the hospital.
I took some Maalox, and after about 15 minutes the pain went away. I have never had pain like this before. Is it this a normal part of pregnancy? Should I be concerned?

Totally normal. It's happened to me and also to my friend who actually went to the hospital b/c she thought it was something serious. It tuned out to be severe gas.

Thanks! That makes me feel so much better. I can't believe how much that hurt. I started to rethink my views on epidurals!

Your digestion will change real fast with pregnancy due to the hormones softening the digestive muscles. things that you would normally eat and never bothered you, may start to infact send you running to the bathroom.
at 6weeks or so the heartburn started and then the reflux. im 15 weeks now and still have a hard time eating the most blandest things.
i would maybe switch to blander foods for now and see if that helps.
oh..and invest in tums..LOL

Yes, I get them weekly! They're fun, aren't they? Scares me every time. I can distinctly now tell the difference of my gas pains and my uterus stretching pains, you will too.

I had the exact same thing last night. I was thinking hospital too. I honestly couldn't move unless Dh physically moved me becuase the pain was SOOO bad. I tried milk and tums and nothing.
I don't even know if we are allowed pepto but, I took two big swigs and sat up in bed perfectly still to get the pain to a localized stab!! Then I was able to fall asleep. I woke up a few hours later and it was better.
Really scary. I was going to ask my midwife about it because, I thought something was really wrong!

that happenedto me when i was at work i swear i thought i was in labor it was so bad i couldnt even speak.i tried to go to the bathroom nd nothing... it finally passed but boy it was painful

it happened to me A LOT around 8-12weeks.. i was so scared that something was really wrong.
The ONLY thing that really helped was rocking back and forth on all fours until I burped it out.

DH rubbed my back at the same time - it was like INSTANT RELIEF!!!
eta: my gas pain was so bad that I was vomiting. I called my mother and told her i was dying.

I had the same thing happen to me last week!! I had raw veggies with hummas for lunch and mid afternoon I had extreme pains. I thought Dh was going to have to take me to the hospital I had no idea what was going on. Never having that again!

THE EXACT THING happened to me yesterday. I was doubled over in pain crying and didn't know if I was going to have to go to the hospital. I could barely move, but moving is the only thing that made the gas bubbles work their way "out."
I don't know what provoked it for me. I think it was cucumbers though!
