infant motrin - need dosage help!!
okay so DS is 18.5 lbs and 6.5 months old.
the dosage says:
6-11 mos, 12-17 lbs, 1.25ml
OR
18-23 lbs, 12-23 mos, 1.75ml
i *think* i should give him the higher dose, b/c shouldn't it go by weight?
but now i am not sure!

I would do the first one. It is closer to his age and still near the weight.

Re: infant motrin - need dosage help!!
They go by weight in the hospital and at the doctor's office, so I would've given the larger dosage.

I have no idea, we always use Tylenol.
But, I hope Luca is ok!

Me too. When DS was about the same weight (19 pounds) we switched to Motrin & used the higher dosage.

I would err on the side of caution and give him the lower dose.

Re: infant motrin - need dosage help!!
I always go by weight and always calculate my own doses. There is always a dosing "range" so I assess how bad my DC is and then decide whether to give the lower dose or the higher dose.
Based on his weight, he could have gotten a maximum of 84mg so I would have rounded it to 80mg and given 2ml of the concentrated drops if his fever was very high or he was in alot of pain from teething or something. Giving him 1.25ml was fine though -- it is just on the lower end of the dosing scale (5-10mg/kg for Motrin) and that gave him almost 6mg/kg so it is just fine.
