Infant Motrin

At what age can you give this? Does this work better than Tylenol? TIA

I believe 9mths +
I use it when DS is teething badly only at bedtime. Other then that I hate giving him anything.

Re: Infant Motrin

I prefer tylenol. Motrin seems to get DS wired.
I started giving it to him around 7 months when his teeth were hurting him.

Re: Infant Motrin

You can give it more often than tylenol. I think tylenol is every 6 hours but I believe Motrin is every 4 hours.

Actually, it's the opposite. You can start giving it at 6 months old. Every 6 hours for Motrin. It lasts longer than Tylenol, like an above poster said, so you give it less often.

ETA: (Easy way to remember: MOTRIN = 6 letters, 6 months old, every 6 hours). Chat Icon

Re: Infant Motrin

6+ Tylenol was useless for my daughter- Motrin has been our teething lifesaver.

Re: Infant Motrin

Motrin makes Talia HYPER - so I only give it to her when she really needs it.

Re: Infant Motrin

We use it for teething and with all 4 molars and 2 canines coming in all together it's been the only relief he/we can get.

Re: Infant Motrin

I find motrin to be much better then tylenol.

I find that it makes dd a little hyper too, but I think it is because she feels so much better.

Re: Infant Motrin

DS just turned 6 months and has a fever...when I called the ped. I asked if I could give him motrin and he said to stick with tylenol for now unless his fever gets very high.

Re: Infant Motrin

You can start giving motrin at 6 months. For teething, I found no difference between the Tylenol and Motrin but with fevers, Motrin rocked! It broke DS's fever very quickly whereas the Tylenol only brought it down by a degree.
