I made an appointment with Dr. Hershlag. Does anyone have any positive experiences with him ? Or negative ?

I had a friend who used him. He is supposed to be very nice and thorough.I used dr. Cohen. He is great too. I did not like Dr. Scholl at North Shore. He was quite condescending and rude. I have heard good things about Dr. Herschlag. Best of luck.

Re: Infertility doctor
Well, he's Natalie Portman's dad. Besides that I have a girlfriend who has two beautiful kids from IVF at North Shore, and she liked him though he wasn't technically her doctor.

I hated it at north shore. They pushed IVF and with my insurance were $5500 more expensive then other clinics (and I have excellent coverage). I left, and found success at LI IVF with iui's, and not IVF after all. So depending on what you need, it is worth it to price shop. Bc they are a hospital facility they charge a crap more in fees.

Re: Infertility doctor
He was one of my doctors while I was going through IVF. He did my retrieval (it just depends on the day it falls who you get). I love him!!! I can't say enough good things about him.
The first time I saw him for a monitoring appt he actually sat and talked with me. He told me I was going to be successful this cycle, he just had a feeling. I broke down sobbing and he hugged me and was so so nice. And then when my retrieval fell on the day he was working, he was like yup I knew it. We got 12 embryos (my lucky dozen he called it), 2 didn't make it right away, 2 were transferred, and I still have 6 frozen there. My twins are 2 1/2 years old!
Best of luck!

I never used him but did try Dr. Cohen and was not a fan. He was too "wimpy" and never clear. Never once called me back. I did like Jasmine the nurse, found her to be very knowledgeable and caring. The office is nice clean and everyone was professional. In the end I never stayed NSLIH, very $$ but mostly because of Dr. Cohen

Dr. Hershlag is probably one of the best in the business. He is thorough and reassuring, and doesn't push IVF unless you're ready and comfortable. He is the head of the practice at NSLIJ, and he personally reviews each and every one of your monitoring cycles, even if he doesn't monitor you himself. At first, I wasn't 100% convinced, but after awhile, I realized he knew what he was talking about. i didnt find him warm and hand-holding, but he does hug you and try to make you feel better. At NSLIJ, you're always seen by a doctor. While you're going through testing and prepping for iui, you will meet many of them. You'll like some better than others, but don't worry, he will always be on top of your case. The nurses are the ones who do all of the wonderful work, and you won't even care who your doctor is that day after awhile. Joan, Reese, and all of the nurses are amazing!
