Re: Infertility Success Stories
I am so excited to be able to post my success story! DH and I were married in May 2005 and started to TTC immediately. We tried for a year on our own and then moved to an RE since I was 35 and figured we needed some kind of help. We never really figured out the exact cause of the problem but we went through multiple IUIs, multiple IVFs, varicocele surgery, accupuncture, you name it we did it! Finally after 4 1/2 years of trying I got pg with twins after an IVF cycle that may have been my last due to $$ (we pay out of pocket). Unfortunately one twin stopped developing early (7 weeks) but I am thrilled that I am now almost 35 weeks with my baby boy! All of my meds were donated to me for this cycle from the very generous ladies on this site! There are still days that I still can't believe this is actually happening to me. I am so very grateful! To anyone struggling please don't give up!

Re: Infertility Success Stories
DH and I had been ttc for a year before I went to see my regular OB. I always kind of had a feeling that I would have difficulty getting pg because I had a lot of spotting before AF actually got started each cycle. My OB started me on Clomid (un-monitored) and then added progesterone and estrogen. The cycle was a mess and not successful. In the meantime, DH had an SA and I had an HSG. The SA was normal, but my HSG showed that I had very large polyps blocking my fallopian tubes on both sides, as well as some extra tissue in my uterus.
My OB told me that he would not be able to remove the polyps because they were too high up and I would lose my tubes. He said that IVF was my only option, so he sent me to an RE (aka my savior!!).
My RE looked at the HSG results and immediately said that he was confident that he could remove the polyps and the extra tissue. I had the surgery and then went on two monitored cycles of Femara and Ovidrel. Thankfully, I got pg with and am now 21wks!!

Re: Infertility Success Stories
I like inspirational threads...
I was married for about 1 year and decided to TTC aggressively. I was 30 and felt it was time. I thought I was being clever & timing it for a good point in my career.
I did OPKs from the get-go & found that I had a long, but regular cycle. We BD every night, every other night, around the +OPK, tried to relax for a month, ect.
After over a year of this, we went to an RE. Had the HSG, blood tests, SA, ect. Everything was perfectly normal. Diagnosed as unexplained infertility.
After 3 IUIs with all kind of meds... we went to IVF. I went to RMA, which I loved.
IVF worked. 1st cycle with 2 embryos transferred... 1 took. I'm 20 weeks with a
now.
I think my one piece of advice to those going through it is: don't stress what you actually have to DO. The emotional toll is worse than the physical one. And looking back: all those needles and tests were not so bad. Yes, some hurt, yes, I still have pain from the areas in my butt that some went into... but its all worth it in the end.
AND I'll go through it all again in a heartbeat.

Re: Infertility Success Stories
I thought I would add my success story.
DH and I have been together for 9 years and we knew wanted a family. Before we got married I went to my ob and told her we were going to ttc as soon as we got married. I had been off bc over a year at the point because I wanted to see what my normal cycles would be like. In that year before my wedding I got my period 3 times. I had been diagnosed with pcos when I was 15, and on bc since I was 17, it was the only way I could regulate my cycles. My ob suggested we not even waste time ttc on our own and go to straight to the RE.
So 2 months after we were married I went to my first RE appointment. It was overwhelming but I knew that we wanted a child more than anything. I did 4 months of metaformin, I never got a period. So finally I went to clomid. We also found out through testing I produces an sperm killing antibody so we also had iuis. Our first two were failures and we started to talk about IVF. My dr increased the amount of clomid I was on and bang out third iui was a success.
Now 20 weeks pregnant I feel confident in the pregnancy and we are just so excited waiting for the arrival of our little baby in August.
There were so many times I was down when I was going though the process. All you can is hold on to your faith, and look for comfort in those you love.

Re: Infertility Success Stories
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15 years old. RE told me that when the time came I would need help to get pregnant.
Got married in October 2002, I was 25. We started trying in July 2005, 3 cycles of Clomid and then another 2 cycles of metformin and then 3 more cycles with Clomid/Metformin with zero results.
Switched doctors, went with Dr. Chu of NSUH in August 2006 and we started injectables, I got pregnant in September 2006 only to miscarry 6 weeks later, I had started bleeding and when we went for our appt there was no sac...
We tried again in December 2006 that cycle didnt work. Had to take a month off due to cysts, went back the end of January. Woke up one morning the 2ww and I thought I was getting my period but it turns out that I was pregnant but miscarried immediately.
Took 6 months off to get my body in shape, took a vacation, etc.. Went back in September 2007 and found out I was pregnant with twins in October 2007. My girls will be 2 next month.

Re: Infertility Success Stories
I will keep this short and sweet. DH and I TTC for 15 months. Diagnosed with unexplained IF. 5 failed IUI's (1 natural, 2 with Clomid, 2 with Follistim). 2 chemical pregnancies. OHSS and ovarian cysts from treatments.
IVF #1 with ICSI, single embryo 5dt resulted in DD. Accupuncture, stress reduction, meditation during IVF cycle helped.

Re: Infertility Success Stories
I am so happy to finally be able to post my success story on this thread for inspiration to everyone on here who is trying!!
I will try and make this short, but with me that almost never happens, so lets see My story actually dates back over 10 years ago. When I was a teenager I always had horribly irregular periods. I would get AF for 5 weeks, then it would go for a week, and then I would get it for another 5 weeks. It was SO heavy that I was anemic multiple times and had to take iron supplements to make up for all the iron loss. After about three years of craziness and numerous trips to the gyno (some in an emergency after *tmi* basically hemorrhaging in the middle of the night) I finally started BCP and was told I probably had PCOS. I didn't really understand what any of this meant, but whenever I googled it online, the words that stuck out to me were *infertility* which scared me like no other.........
Well, after 10 years on the pill and a wedding later, my DH and I decided it was time to start TTC. I went off the pill in November of '09 warning my DH that this process was not going to be typical. I suspected I was going to have problems because that part of my body never functioned like it should without those pills...... I went for an appt with my gyno before going off the pill (different one than who I had seen as a teen) and he told me I would probably be fine and that all teenagers have AF problems. He completely dismissed all my concerns. After about 2 months of being off and and charting basal temps, using OPKs daily.. you know the drill.. I went to my gyno and showed him I knew I was NOT ovulating and never got my period. He refused to look at my charts and said they meant nothing and not to worry about any of this until being off for a full 3 months.
I felt like I was being completely dismissed. I knew if I waited another month to finally get AF I would be sitting on my hands and it would never happen. I knew what my end result would be. Through the advice of wonderful girls on this board, I made my first appointment with an RE- Dr. Braverman. I was really anxious for my first appointment and part of me worried that he would tell me it was too soon to see him since it had only been about 3 months off the pill. Well, at my first appt he saw my charts from 10 years ago and said I absolutely had PCOS and took me VERY seriously. He said assured me that if I did not come in when I did I was not going to get AF on my own.. We ran some new blood work which confirmed that my hormones were all out of wack, and so my IF journey began.............
I started with provera to bring on AF and then went in for CD3 monitoring. My first cycle, we experimented a lot because we weren't sure what would cause me to develop good follies. I tried a round of 2.5mg of femara which did nothing.. 5mg of femara which did nothing.. and then added gonal-f injections which gave me two good ones! My lining was too thin at that point so I used Estradiol to thicken it, Ovidrel to trigger, and went in for a B2B IUI which failed.
The next cycle I started on dexamethasone, metformin DH and I took a round of doxycycline (antibiotic), and I used 5mg of femara and more gonal-f injections.. then triggered with Ovidrel.. developed FOUR follies this time but again.. nothing.
Finally my third IUI cycle (the winner! ) I used dexamethasone, estrace, vitamin e, femara, gonal-f, and Ovidrel. I developed 3 good follies and am now pregnant with 1 fabulously adorable baby!!
My message here is basically this........ Don't ever think it's too soon to get help if you need it. As you can see, my journey was not NEARLY as long as the typical person who sees an RE. From start to finish, I was able to get pregnant in 6 months total of trying because I knew I had issues. Knowing getting pregnant naturally would be a struggle, I was determined not to waste time. Don't ever feel like you have to wait for ANY length of time if you suspect that something is wrong. I wish everyone loads of luck in this process and please feel free to FM with any questions!!
ETA: Lost my son at 17.5wks due to complications unrelated to fertility treatments I hope to be another success story one of these days..........

Re: Infertility Success Stories
I never posted my story on this thread. I went to NSHU and mainly saw Dr. Chu. I loved her and all of the other doctors in the practice.
I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility after a year of trying on my own. I went through all the testing which gave us no answers at all, except that I have a slightly bicornuate (heart shaped) uterus which usually doesn't cause fertility problems. Having no answers as to why this was happening was the most frustrating thing of all. I went through 3 rounds of unmedicated IUIs, 3 round of Clomid IUIs, and then 3 injectable IUIs. All of these cycles were picture perfect but didn't work. I finally moved on to IVF with ICSI and wound up with 10 good embryos. We transfered 2 and I wound up pregnant with my son who will be 1 in July. I have 8 left over and will be going back to the RE to discuss FET soon, so I hope be back on this board in the next few months.
IF was the most emotionally and physically draining thing I've been through in my life. Although it took a lot to get him, I thank God everyday for what I went through to get my son. Without this journey he would not be here. It was the way things were meant to happen to bring him to me.
Good Luck to all of you ladies who are going through this. I pray that all of you will hold your miracle baby in your arms someday.

Re: Infertility Success Stories
I had saved this thread to my Notebook and couldnt wait to one day share my success story. I know when I was on this board I loved reading all the Infertility Success Stories for inspiration.
Dh and & were trying for a year with 2 losses. We were fortunate to get pregnant the first time within 3 months and the same for the second pregnancy too. However, both ended in miscarriages. I remember feeling broken and thought my dream of becoming a mother would never happened. I kept thinking "What was wrong with me...how many more losses was I going to Experience?'
After the 2nd loss I started working with a few RE's. I found out I had two copies of MTHFR, Anexin, and Protein S. Also was told I had High NK cells and needed prednisone and intralpids. I was so overwhelmed with all of this news and the treatment.
I eneded up taking Lovenox, Metanx, and baby aspirin. I chose against treating the NK cells after discussing with a few different Doctors.
My RE just had me doing Schedule BD with the trigger shot- while starting the lovenox in the 2 ww. Well sure enough I got pregnant again a 3rd time that very first month. Through out the pregnancy the lovenox/heparin became habit..it really wasnt nearly as bad as I imagined. ( it really just becomes habit and part of your routine).
On Dec 21st 2010 I had my baby Girl, Ava Rose! She is the most amazing gift and we are so in LOVE! It was well worth the wait to bring her to me. I couldnt imagine any other child but this one, it was well worth the wait and struggle for her.
I wish you all the best of luck!!!
Continued prayers for you all. One day you will be joing that parenting board too.

Re: Infertility Success Stories
This story is not about me, but my cousin. I can't say I know all the details, but I will give you the short and sweet version.
My cousin, who I believe is now 41, was trying with her DH for years, and years to get pregnant. I want to say they were trying for at least 5 years. They did IVF. They were pregnant once and had a miscarriage unfortunately around 9 weeks.
We just found out on Christmas Eve that they are now pregnant with twins! I can only assume that they did IVF again, not sure as I don't have all the details.
But it is safe to say that after over 5 years of trying, talk of giving up, they are on their way to having 2 beautiful little babies!

Re: Infertility Success Stories
I posted on the first page of this thread awhile back, but I can add to it now...
Apparently, it's quite common for PCOS girls who are anovulatory to begin ovulating after having their first child. Yeah, no one told me...
So, 18 months after having my DD (a Clomid baby), I gave birth to my DS...who was the biggest surprise of my life.
