Injection Class

DH and i just got back from our injection class. I dont know what I was expecting but that was not it. I was a bit disappointed in havent a group class when everyone is doing something different. Some couples were just doing injectibles/IUI, some people were doing the follistim pen, some were doing gonal pen. I dont know why I thought it would be more personalized. Considering I have a HUGE bag of drugs from the pharmacy and still have no idea what all the drugs are for, some how I feel I didnt get out of the class what I should have. Did anyone else feel this way?

Re: Injection Class

My injection class included myself and one other woman. We were both starting injectibles with IUI and we learned Follistim and Gonal F. We also learned Ovidrel and HCG. To be honest, I watched the DVD's that my RE gave and that was more than enough to learn what I needed to do. There are also some home video clips on youtube of women administering IVF drugs which may be helpful. GL!

Re: Injection Class

which stims are you using? I just finished so I could probably help you. Also I watched some videos on youtube on the different meds I was taking and found that helpful. after the first time it will be a breeze.

ETA
when do you start stimming?

Re: Injection Class

I felt a little overwhelmed after my injection class (fortunately my DH did not) but to be honest, now that we actually started some of the meds, its a lot easier than I thought it would be...The DVD they gave pretty much did exactly what the injection class did (a little corny and repetitive) but definately got you familiar with the process..I do know what you mean though, 1 on 1 would have been nicer..but honestly its not 1/2 as bad as you might think Chat Icon

Re: Injection Class

We are going tomorrow for our Class. I've been doing injectibles for IUI. The nurse showed me what to do. We're going for IVF now so I guess it's a bit more complicated than my Gonal-F pen. I nearly had a breakdown before I did the first injection. It was really easy. I'm just worried about the pogesterone IM shots. DH will pass out, so I don't know what to do. Good luck everyone. BA

Re: Injection Class

I was extreamly overwhelmed by our class, so much so, that I started to cry in the middle of it when the nurse started talking about the PIO shots. We actually had a fairly large class (I think there were 6 other couples besides us). I too was hoping it would be more personalized, but I did get out of what I think I was supposed to. We'll see tonight after I give myself my first Lupron injection.

Re: Injection Class

When I first started doing this (2 years ago) the first injection class I was so overwhelemed and freaked out by all the drugs and I was not the only one in the class. My DH watched all the videos that the RE gave and it really became a breeze after a while so much so that I can give myself most of my injections. Not the POI, that I cant do myself.
I hope to start stiming myself thursday/friday. Good luck and if you have any questions just ask.

Re: Injection Class

My class also was fairly large (about 5 couples). I expected more but was happy that I went. Like others have said, when it actually came time for me to do the injections, I watched a video on how to inject it a few times. I would pause it after each section, practice, and then finally inject. Once you do it, it becomes easier each time.
