Input on Central Islip: College Woods Area
There are a few townhouses in the "College Woods" area. I'm not familiar with C.I. and would greatly appreciate any input you can give me. Thanks!

That area is being renovated it seems. There is a new shopping center over there. There are parts of CI that are crap and there are parts that are decent. We bought our first home in Islandia which is basically CI. We never had any issues at all and lived on a nice block in a convenient location. The schools are not good though-not sure if that matters to you

I live in College woods. The area is very quiet. after 9:00 I never hear any cars going by. I like it, its close to target and home depot. They just put in a fridays also. If you are looking to buy their I highly recommend a corner townhouse. You get more yard for your $$. Good Luck

Although Ive never owned a home there, I went to college at NYIT and lived on campus there for 2 years. At the time, they had just started building that huge shopping center and all those townhomes . I never had any problems in the area, loved the proximity to the LIE/Southern State. Lots of great places to eat if you head South on Carleton. Great shopping center if you head north on Suffolk.
I loved the area when I lived there and its been seriously developed since then. From what I understand the school district is less than desirable though.

We just moved into Islip Landing (the condos behind NYIT and just north of the courts). We're very happy here. I feel very safe and it's so close to shopping and highways. Let me know if you have questions!
