Installing a ceiling fan
We want to install a ceiling fan in our enclosed porch where we currently have a hanging light.
We have one of those old cherry stained ceilings so we can not make any additional holes or anything. It has to fit as is, or not at all...
Does the ceiling fan have to be mounted into a beam in the ceiling? Or do we just need a special electical mount in the ceiling?
Thanks!

Re: Installing a ceiling fan
It depends on the fan you purchase. Find a fan you like and view the installation options, typically on the back of the box. Most offer multiple installation options. Or, if not on the box visit the manufactures website. The full installation steps are usually posted.

Re: Installing a ceiling fan
I would say the majority of them need to be mounted to a beam. They are very heavy and you wouldn't want it faling and pulling down your ceiling. I saw a fan at home expo that was on a pole. maybe you could do something like that.
