yeah, you definitely have to go to someone on the list above, and likely will have to make an appt. We only have one base out of 2 installed so far, and still haven't called

not at all.... it's nervous mommy syndrome. there's a statistic (I forget what the exact # is) that the majority of carseats are mis-installed and could fail in an accident... so some nervous moms get their installation critiqued and corrected....

No you don't by law have to have this done - but I think it is something like 80-90% of car seats are incorrectly installed which is why even though most are easy to install it is piece of mind that people get it done. I have always had mine checked. I will say when I had it done - the guy said many people come with it already installed and I think he hasn't seen one done correctly at home yet.
It usually only takes about 5 mins to get it checked or installed.

We tried two preceincts and neither of them did it. We ended up at Hassell Autobody on Route 109 in Babylon. Call ahead cuz only one person does it but he was great!! Fixed ours (it was not in tight enough) and showed us all the dos and donts!

I did the same. The precintcs do them once a month. So, DH went to the auto shop listed in west babylon.
