insurance / mold question
Does anyone know if homeowners insurance covers damage or removal of mold?
We have had our inspection done and no visible mold, but just wondering what happens if we discover say mold growing in the walls later on. Is this covered or out of pocket?

Re: insurance / mold question
That may be something that could have a recourse against the inspection that was done.

Re: insurance / mold question
It would depend upon how the insurance policy was written. A lot of new policies are excluding mold and many renewals are excluding it too. If you have mold and had an inspection when you purchased the home you may have recourse against the inspector. Also, depending upon the warantees given in the sale of the home you may have recourse against the seller. It is always a case by case basis and best to consult an attorney. You could contact your local bar association for an attorney referral who specializes in these types of cases.
