Internships in criminal justice/law related field...
My cousin need to complete an internship this summer for college and is having a hard time finding something. He is interviewing with Suffolk County police dept. within the next couple of weeks but would like to apply elsewhere in case this does not work for him (they told him on the phone they usually only takes students from Suffolk community...he attends a college in White Plains). Do any of you work in this field or have any ideas?
ETA: Unfortunately, the college does not help the students at all in finding internships apparently.

What college does he attend? Has he spoken with the professors in his academic department as well as the Career Services office? Those should be his first steps to find something that is already posted with his school.
Depending on his year in school, he may qualify for the NYPD Cadet Corp program.

The DAs offices all have large internship programs.

Don't many towns have auxilliary police departments (basically you get trained and then volunteer). I remember seeing postings for this kind of thing for the City of Long Beach and they use them a lot in the summertime when it's crowded here, I guess to patrol the beaches and help oversee events and such.
