Interview in NYC
I have an interview in NYC tommorow. What should I expect for those who have gone through this? It's at the recruitment office in Brooklyn... Thanks

Re: Interview in NYC
It was a pretty long process. the recruiter asked me some questions, looked at my resume, letters of reference and certificate.
Then she offered me a committment letter, explained it to me.
Then I had to meet with a case manager, who is my "help" with the job search.
Then I had to go downstairs and process my fingerprints. I already had them cleared in the system but still had to go down and show them some things.
Parking is horrible over there, but it is a pretty nice area. If you can take the subway/train that is probably your best bet.
Good luck!

Re: Interview in NYC
It went terribly. I waited 2 hours and then she tells me there are no openings where I am willing to travel to. She interviewed me anyway and told me that "It's so competivite, you have to really know your stuff, and that my answers were too short"....I left there in tears!

Re: Interview in NYC
I can't believe they said that to you. Don't feel bad, you don't want the letter anyway. I was actually offered the letter.. I turned it down because they told me that I would not be able to accept an offer in specific regions such as region 3 even if I found the job on my own. You would have been in the same position. Send resumes directly to the principals. A few weeks later after I turned it down I had an amazing interview in region 3. So do not feel bad, it's actually a good thing.

Yes you can definitely send resumes to principals.. they have nothing to do with the central office. And as I said before, you are better off.

Re: Interview in NYC
I went to NYC DOE Court St. 4 years ago. I practically begged the lady for a job..She told me I was "A DIME A DOZEN" that there was 5 girls in the waiting room with my certification. I was crushed! She said she could put me somewhere in the Bronx, but I would not be happy. She told me to stay subbing on Long Island and I will get something...Well that's what I did and I have an amazing job which I LOVE more than anything. So I hope this helps and you will get something better. I know it!!! Good Luck!
